Peter Lyon introduced the world to Japan’s “drifting” scene before we even knew what drifting was and has been at the heart of automotive subculture in Japan since 1988.
He’s a motor journalist and has been racing cars since 2001, mainly in the Mazda MX-5 4-hour race in Japan, with his team capturing 2nd place twice. In 2009, he created the Lexus IS-F racing team with ex-Indy 500 racer Hideshi Matsuda and Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi to compete at Germany’s Nurburgring race track. They came 1st in class in their first 4-hour race before competing in the 2010 Nurburgring 24-hour race, an event in which his team placed 4th in class.
His articles and photographs have appeared in well-known magazines worldwide including Top Gear, Autocar, Car and Driver, Auto Express, GQ Japan and Forbes.
He’s also authored two books and hosts a car show on Japan’s national NHK TV network.
