After weeks of trash talk, training, and anticipation, the event of the season is here. Tyler Milliken steps into the Terror Dome to take on reigning Pick-A-Side heavyweight champion, Hogdale, in a-seven point showdown on topics that include (but are not limited to) Boston Red Sox baseball, 98.5 the Sports Hub personalties, and Jim Henson passion projects.
Can Tyler overcome the accused bias of judges Coley Mick, JustinMLB, and Jake Yasi? Will Ed's hangover prevent him from hosting? And what does Hogdale have to say about the late, great Akira Toriyama? All this and more in this week's exciting edition of Pod By The River!
No Pick-A-Side. No guest. Just Hogdale, Ed, and Brady riffing about the current state of the Red Sox and baseball. Lucas Giolito's injury, Brayan Bello's contract, the fight for the #5 spot in the rotation, where does Ceddanne Rafaela start the season, a roleplay exercise involving John Henry and Chaim Bloom, and much, much more. Also, Hogdale issues a message to Tyler Milliken at the end that you won't want to miss.
Intrigued? Then its time to listen to the newest Pod By The River!
Bayleigh Von Schneider and Chrystal O'Keefe aka the Soxy Chicks join us for the first ever Pick-A-Side fight night! Who will win the best of seven?
Judge 1: Hogdale
Judge 2: Ryan Brady
Judge 3: Jake T. O'Donnell
Hosted by Ed Hand
This weeks questions!
1. Bigger Oscars snub- Greta Gertwig or Margot Robbie?
2. New MLB uniforms: too revealing or not revealing enough?
3. Who is more annoying? Trevor Bauer defenders or Trevor Bauer?
4. Who signs first- Jordan Montgomery or Blake Snell?
5. Which nerd would you rather date- The Incredible Hulk or Spider-Man?
6. Which Red Sox/White Sox player was better: Chris Sale or Kevin Youkilis?
7. For reasons that cannot be explained, cats can suddenly read at a twelfth-grade level. They can't talk and they can't write, but they can read silently and comprehend the text. Many cats love this new skill, because they now have something to do all day while they lay around the house; however, a few cats become depressed, because reading forces them to realize the limitations of their existence (not to mention utter frustration of being unable to express themselves). This being the case, do you this the average cat would enjoy Garfield, or would cats find the cartoon to be an insulting caricature?
In this week's episode, Brady's back after two weeks on a boat and he's got plenty to say about Jordan Montgomery. The boys are all pretty into the signing of CJ Cron, and Hogdale and Ed talk about the ramifications that the signing could have on the rest of the team, particularly Ceddanne Rafaela.
THEN, twitter personality BallParkBuzz joins the show to talk about what has stood out to him thus far in spring training, how he joined the Bastards of Boston Baseball, and to take on Brady in Pick-A-Side. Intrigued? Then it's time for you to listen to this week's PodByTheRiver!
In this episode of PBR, the boys go over Justin's first Red Sox tier list of the season. Its full of religious overtones including reference to Satan and Baseball Jesus. Hogdale and Ed wax poetically about the missing piece of the 2024 Red Sox that is starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery.
THEN, Sammy James of Play Tessie joins the gang to give a rundown over the origin story of Bradfo boys and answer YOUR questions before taking on our reigning champion Hogdale in a Pick-A-Side battle of the ages. Fictional lions, nipples, and Bryan Mata questions abound. Intrigued? Then its time for you to check out episode 15 of Pod By The River!
Brady is on vacation (again) and Hogdale decided to go to outer space for the day and not recording so it's just Ed and Justin going over the start of spring training, the John Schreiber trade, the Triston Casas contract situation and more.
Then Liam Fennessey of Pod on Lansdowne joins us to answer your questions and play Pick-A-Side. Intrigued? Then its time for you to check out Episode 14 of Pod By The River!
Not a lot happening (again) so the boys go over the Red Sox/Netflix deal and when that is only mildly interesting, shift to the never-ending debate over whether or not professional douchebag Trevor Bauer will ever return to Major League Baseball.
Then, today's original guest had to raincheck so former Pesky Report castmate "Tim" joins the action for a game of Pick-A-Side against Hogdale that quickly turns into a slaughter. Intrigued? Tune in to the newest episode of Pod by the River for all this and more!
Finally, something to talk about! Prodigal son Theo Epstein is back (kind of) and Brady has never been happier. What is Theo's new role and how will it affect Craig Breslow? What is Gen Z'er Hogdale's position on a man who left the organization when he was 10? Can Ed let go of his made-up grudge?
THEN, Hogdale and Ed get into it over the trade package that the Orioles gave up to get their new ace, Corbin Burnes. Can Hogdale's righteous anger change Ed's conservative roster management beliefs?
Finally, known prospect guy, Hunter Noll of BoSox Injection, joins the guys to answer YOUR questions and to challenge Brady in Pick-A-Side. All this and more in this week's exciting episode of Pod By The River!
Another week, another absence of Red Sox activity. Ed asks the guys if they want to talk about Ryne Stanek but no one wants to so instead, Pesky Report analyst Jake T. O'Donnell talks us through some theories about why the Red Sox haven't been as aggressive on Jordan Montgomery as Scott Boras would like.
Then in Pick-A-Side, Jake and Brady duke it out over Matt Barnes (again), Spielberg films, Winnie the Pooh's proficiency with a shotgun, and more!
Another week of minimal action but the guys try their best to make something out of nothing. Ed reports back from Winter Weekend and details his nightmares of being stalked by a Wolfdale, Hogdale's evil brother who may or may not be real. Hogdale goes off on ownership and no one really objects to this. Brady had a great weekend and holds on to the belief that the Red Sox will sign Jordan Montgomery.
The boys are then joined by pipe layer extraordinaire and cohost of Rhode Island's favorite podcast "Small State Big Takes" Stephen O. Scott who takes on Hogdale in Pick-A-Side.
Hilarity ensues.
