Get your 3D glasses out and enjoy the extra dimension robot battles in this Bayhem episode in which Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) talk about 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Bay continues to play with his robot toys and pushes the limits of tech… But really if you’re just looking for robot violence it’s still here in spades.
Yes, this is the giant robot testicals movie. It’s 2009 Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, one of the many Bay Transformers sequels that is as indistinguishable as the next. Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) make the most of it.
It felt inevitable to have Michael Bay make a feature film based off a popular toy line/Saturday morning cartoon. Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) are in luck with 2007’s Transformers as it’s one of, if not the best, Michael Bay giant fighting robots movie. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Michael Bay would like to remind you that he worked with Steven Spielberg on the Dreamworks 2005 production of The Island, starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) talk about the sometimes forgotten, yet arguably underrated sci-fi action film. Is it just THX-1138 with Bayhem on top? Maybe.
This is it. This might be the “most” Michael Bay of all Michael Bay and Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) are here to talk about it. It’s 2003’s Bad Boys II, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Just as many opinions fly here as do bodies, so buckle up and remember: we’re bad boys for life.
There’s only one person to trust when it comes to a proper, respectful take on retelling a national tragedy: Michael Bay. Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) discuss 2001’s Pearl Harbor, starring Ben Affleck, Kate Beckinsale, and Josh Hartnett. Listen to this, as they break down the special edition DVD and ghastly extended edition!
Just the typical “oil drillers tasked to go into space and detonate nuclear bombs to destroy asteroids that are heading on a collision course to destroy life on Earth” story! Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) talk about one of the most ridiculous action blockbusters ever made: 1998’s Armageddon. Oh, and make sure to listen to that commentary on the Criterion Collection release of Armageddon!
Did Michael Bay peak in 1996? Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) try to figure that out by discussing The Rock, starring Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery. A quintessential ‘90s action movie by way of Bruckheimer and Bay, we want you to welcome you to The Rock.
Don’t forget your boarding pass for this one. Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) discuss Michael Bay’s first feature film, 1995’s Bad Boys, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. What a way to start a film career where stuff blows up by blowing up a bunch of stuff.
Marcelo (@MarceloJPico), Mike (@mumbles3k), and Diego (@thediegocrespo) have one thing in common: they love Michael Bay. Here in the intro episode, they preview Bayhem: The Michael Bay Retrospective Podcast by Talk Film Society. They share their overall feelings on Mr. Bayhem himself, as they prepare to run through his filmography, leading up to 6 Underground.
