Opinion

The opening commercial was close to 90 seconds. Your audio is stereo (which makes no sense for voice). This makes your audio, for me... a little weird. The audio is also much louder than the actual show and you are exporting at 64 kbps stereo (this is horrible audio). You need to even out your volume. I thought you did a good job of introducing the topic, and I was glad to hear you share that you had read the book, and you were sharing your personal insights. I liked your energy and your tone of voice. I would love to know how much you're paying for this service as my guess is it's too much. I need to reach out to them and see if I can help

Opinion

There really isn't much to improve here. I liked that the show opened and explained that the show was about, it went right into what to expect on the episode, and then a small amount about where you will be live. I thought you did an OK job of introducing your guest. The only thing (and it's nitpicky) is there is a slight hum that you have removed with a noise gate. I guarantee I wouldn't hear it if I was in a car, or walking down the street.

Opinion

The intro music was kind of pointless. You didn't explain what the show is about, and when you went to introduce your guest instead of telling us all of the accolades you decided to keep them secret and let your guest inform the listener. You did explain somewhat what they did, so we knew he has some experience. Then when it came time to interview you, guest, you gave him full control of the interview and asked him to "Give a summary of your life." Your audience doesn't care about Mathew's childhood until we find out what Matthew can do for us. We don't care about his uncle or his rock collection. I'm assuming your podcast is about business growth. You know what Matthew has done, you know what your audience wants to hear, and I made it three minutes in and I hadn't heard anything that was going to help me, and I didn't find the stories that entertaining.

So you might have started off with, "How did you land a job at (the famous company that you didn't announce at the beginning of the show). You gave him too much room, and he's down a rabbit hole that the new listener could care less. You could've also (as you've already done the interview) told the audience, "Wait till you hear what Matthew says about _ it is going to change the way you look at _." You don't get on a bus without knowing where you're going. When you get on a bus, the driver better have a uniform, and then you go to where the bus is designated to go. With a podcast, the beginning of the show should explain where you are going today, you might explain who you are and why we should listen to you (your uniformed bus driver) and then steer the bus in the right direction.

You're only four episodes in, so don't feel bad. Many people start off this way, and it's not horrible, but if you could get to the same destination quicker wouldn't you want to?

Your audio needs some help. Not horrible, but on a scale of 1-10 it's about a 6.5. This can be solved by getting closer to your microphone and using a pop filter. I recommend an audio Technica ATR2100 or if you are in the UK a Samson Q2U. Just turn the gain down so your recording level is between -6 and -12 and then talk across (not directly into) the microphone to avoid "popping" P's and B's.

The intro was a bit long, and you could've explained what the show was about and a little more about the band. The little kid is adorable and I was kind of loss when you went to the band. If you have done a bit better job of introducing the first song (maybe a quick bio about the band) to setup that we were going to the actual band. Your audio quality was good. I would just shorten the intro music, introduce the show and do a wee bit better at setting up the music

I asked for a link to your website, or an episode, and you gave me a link to iTunes/Apple Podcasts, so I used your latest episode.

When I start a podcast, I want to hear what the show is, what I can expect to hear, and then get to the content. You and your co-host have good chemistry, but you didn't give any kind of introduction as to what the show was about, and what was coming up. I use the analogy of getting on a bus that has no destination listed in the front window. Most people won't get on that bus.

Your audio quality could use some work as it sounds like you are WAAAY off the microphone, and possibly be sharing a microphone. Hever everyone near their microphone, get a pop filter and point it at the corner of your mouth.

Listening to someone drink beer wasn't very exciting, but a simple review would be fine. Here again, you could've pointed that out. On today's show we are sampling a new (beer type) we are going to talk about (topic) etc.

Opinion

I like the pacing, and the setup of the show. The audio was good. I hope when you get to the part where you are sharing your opinion you're not reading. The biggest issues I had with the show (and this is bonus content, normally we just talk first impressions) there is no mention of an android subscribe option on your website, and you are missing google juice by not having a post on your website with a description of what is in the show.

Ed Prence, aka Skymall, has hosted the Glitch-IDM show on BTR every Monday since 2008.

Fun fact: Ed and Lottie, BTR's Music Director, not only went to high school together but also participated as seniors in the same "Job Shadow Day" in which they ended up shadowing one of the DJs from Pittsburgh's biggest radio station live on-air. From then on, Ed knew what he wanted to do. Not wanting to work at a corporate radio station, playing pre-programmed garbage, he went off to college at the University of Miami (Florida, not Ohio) in 2000 and joined the radio station. That same year, he took over The Electric Kingdom, which was at the time Miami's only outlet for IDM and weird Electronic music; he hosted that show until 2007.

Later the following year, he got a call from his old friend and fellow job shadower, Lottie, and the Glitch-IDM Show was born!

Opinion:

The intro has some nice energy, and it shows you are taking this podcast more serious than two guys one brain show. I liked that you started off and shared your current experiences which gives you credibility, and you did this without bragging or dragging it out too long. Then you got to your format, which apparently has a quick tip, and you had a great tip that was in the news (which might bring you more traffic to your website as well as being useful about phones and their battery life. A great test of a show is if someone shuts it off, did you want to hear the rest of it, and in this case I did.
