Join our host Senator John D. Johnson as he converses with Phil Lyman, candidate for Governor of the State of Utah, and his running mate, Natalie Clawson.
Hi, I am Phil Lyman. 128 years ago, on January 4, 1896, Utah became a state. What does that mean? What is a state? If we don’t understand personhood, parenthood, and statehood, we are not likely to understand what it means to have a state. We won't understand what it means to have a republican form of government, as each state is guaranteed by the Constitution. I and Natalie Clawson are running for Governor and Lt. Governor of the state of Utah because Utah needs strong leadership. Government power is not supposed to be top-down. Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. Utah is at a crossroads. The values that have made Utah an ideal place to live, work, start a family, start a business, recreate, or just simply to be, are under attack. It is a time to choose, and the right choice is the Lyman/Clawson ticket. We have done extensive internal polling. We have known from the beginning that an upset was possible, now it seems almost inevitable. But we need people to vote. If you are mailing your ballot, remember it needs to be postmarked by Monday, June 24. If you take it to the polls yourself, it needs to be delivered by Tuesday, June 25. Thank you!!

Join Senator John D. Johnson, as he engages in a conversation with John Curtis, candidate for the US Senate.
During his time in Congress, John has delivered for Utahns. With a focus on energy independence, fighting reckless spending in both parties, standing up to communist China’s aggression, protecting farmers and ranchers from over-regulation, and defending Utah’s land from the constant pressure of DC – he’s been busy. Before being elected to Congress, John designed and built shooting ranges around the world for law enforcement training. This real-world experience taught him what it’s like to successfully build something from the ground up and the challenges that come along with it.
John might be the only elected official to cut a city’s budget by more than 8% as he did while serving as the mayor of Provo. He understands that running a leaner government is important, and he uses that as an example of how the federal budget should also operate. Even with deep budget cuts – John left Provo with a 94% approval rating and the city was rated as one of the best-run cities in the country. John now wants to take his unique experience and proven track record of getting things done for Utahns to the U.S. Senate. He believes that Utah families deserve to be heard and will continue to work hard every day to make Utah an even better place.
In John’s spare time, he enjoys water skiing, exercising, and adding to his extensive sock collection. His favorite thing to do is hang out with his wife of 41 years, Sue, and be Papa to his 17 grandchildren.

Join Senator John D. Johnson, as he engages in a conversation with Rod Hall, candidate for State School Board District 3.
Rod is a husband of almost 26 years, a proud father of five beautiful children, and a new grandfather of two amazing little girls. He has had the privilege of being a Youth Pastor for the last 25 years and currently works with teens and young adults. He has the privilege of serving our military as an Honorary Wing Commander of the 388th Fighter Wing, working specifically with the incredible maintainers of the 421 FGS Fighter Squadron - “The Black Widows.” It’s also been his great honor to serve our police as a Chaplain for the Salt Lake City Police Department.
With a degree in education, Rod was a teacher for 10 years, and as a community leader has been able to speak life and truth into the lives of thousands of young people over the last 25 years. As a Pastor, with a degree in counseling and temperament therapy, he is able to invest in the mental and spiritual well-being of our community.
Now he’s praying for the opportunity to serve the families of this great state on the State Board of Education. As a board member, he seeks to create a culture that is empowering for parents, encouraging and supportive for teachers, safe, successful, and rich in academic excellence for students.
