  • The Revenant + Escape from Liberty Cinema - Hiroshima Mon Amour - Eclectica #51
Great White Terry Crews' of the Antarctic

We peruse the Oscar nominations this week before poking the geriatric bear with a stick. Off the Shelf included Escape from 'Liberty' Cinema and Hiroshima Mon Amour before a tonal 180 in which the show truly earns its name with Montage of Heck and Deathgasm. Our film of the week is Iñárritu's The Revenant (we didn't have to spell check that name or anything).

  • Hateful Eight + Mulholland Drive + I Live in Fear + Kuroneko - Eclectica #50
    Never Go Full Tarantino

This week none of us were as malicious as we expected, turns out we must like each other or something. In off the Shelf, we looked over last week's recommendations. Rob with Mulholland Drive, Aidan with Spring, Graham and I Live in Fear with Ryan closing it out with Kuroneko. Film of the Week was Quentin Tarantino's epically epic Hateful Eight.

  • Joy + 2015 in Review - Eclectica #49
    ... We're Back.

It's our first show of 2016, which means this is officially our first anniversary. In this feature-length edition we looked at the worst of the past 12 months, well, we ranted and raved. More importantly, though, we counted down our individual favourites of the year, which included some predictable hitters and some big surprises too. Our film of the week was David O. Russell's Joy.

  • Christmas Special 2015 - Eclectica #48
A Very Merry Second Run Special

We don't do podcasts like other children so the same was true of our Christmas special. We took the chance to use the last episode of 2015 to look at the recent release from Second Run with Loves of a Blonde, Larks on a String and the Party and the Guests. In the slot usually dedicated to the film of the week we looked at alternative Christmas films with Trading Places and Rare Exports, pretty normal, right? well, the other two weren't, we will leave them too as a little Christmas present from Cinema Eclectica to you.

Until we see you all again in 2016, have a very merry.

  • Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 + The Grandmaster + Videodrome - Eclectica #46
    Pete Best of the Apocalypse

This week on the show we go full fan-theory, brave waters indeed. Off the Shelf features a Body Horror Masterclass in Videodrome, Jules Dassin's totally not a western, Thieves Highway, Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmaster and a surprise aided by Gambling. Surely that has to be a first? Our film of the week was a double header in The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 & The Dressmaker for all those non-Hunger Games people.

  • Steve Jobs (2015) + Dragon Inn + Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 - Eclectica #45
    Gaspar No-Way!

This week we catch up with the latest episode of Hollywood's constant ploy to outdo itself in the craps-stakes. In off the shelf, we have as mixed a bag as ever. We continue to look at Arrow's recent box set with Hellbound - Hellraiser 2 and Second Run's latest All My Good Countrymen. Jumping to Eastern climes we have a classic double bill in Mizoguchi's Chikamatsu Monogatari and King Hu's Dragon Inn. Our film of the week was Danny Boyle's latest with his unconventional biopic, Steve Jobs.

  • Brooklyn (2015) + Rashomon + Hellraiser + A Letter to Three Wives - Eclectica #44
    Hell comes to Brooklyn

This week on the show we realise that not all advertising is evil, some of it is actually quite hilarious. In on the shelf we have an almighty round of 180s, Rob looked at Kurosawa's Rashomon, Ryan at 80s Horror classic Hellraiser, Aidan with A Letter to Three Wives and Graham closed out with a minority report on He Named me Malala. Our film of the weekly was the delightful Brooklyn.

  • Turbo Kid + Godzilla + Shaolin Soccer + Knights of Badassdom - Eclectica #43
This week we go rogue because the Bond takeover has disrupted normal service. With Spectre consuming all of the releases we decided to change the rules, and instead of our usual "Off the Shelf" and "Film of the Week" we take to the opportunity to do something different. Join us for a look back as some of the titles from previous episodes, recommendations from listeners, and the greatest of all segue combinations.

Our featured movies are Turbo Kid, Knights of Badassdom, Shaolin Soccer and the original Godzilla from 1954

  • Phenomena + Spectre + Black Sunday + Zombie Glesh Eaters - Eclectica #42
    A Messed Up Italian H-H-H-Halloween

This week the news devolves into Rob making noises. Off the Shelf is a Halloween-themed affair, this week, as we go all-Italian with Dario Argento's "Phenomena", Mario Bava's "Black Sunday" and a notorious double-bill of "Zombie Flesh Eaters" and "Cannibal Holocaust". Our Film of the Week is the latest offering from the Bond franchise - "Spectre".
