Despite the hype, 'The Little Things' is ultimately a disappointing watch that doesn't know what kind of movie it wants to be. So why is the Golden Globes voting body so fixated on Jared Leto's performance? Plus, the $GME saga unfolds on Wall Street to the potential benefit of common people. The stock price has swung dramatically, but when the Hollywood stories come out fictionalizing it (already in the works), it's unlikely they remember what it was really about.

The MCU is inevitable! We talk about what worked and what didn't in the first few episodes of Disney's first Marvel TV show, 'WandaVision.' It seems that the film/TV strategy is starting to look a lot more like comic book events, but will there come a time where it's too much? Plus, a conversation about the movie 'Promising Young Woman,' an incredible, painful movie deserving of its acclaim.

The return of Post-Weird! It's been a wild month since the end of season 1, but we begin season 2 with a look back not only at the last few weeks, but the last 4 years of arts in culture under the suffocating cloud of Trumpism. There was a prevailing notion that comedy and political art would get better during this time, but did it? We try to pinpoint what movies, music, and TV best reckoned with this period of history, and each discuss 3 examples.

Happy holidays from Post-Weird! We're back this week to recap chapters 12-14 (S2, E4-6) of 'The Mandalorian.' As we near the end of this season, it's become clear that no show on TV quite understands its fanbase like this show - which makes it the best thing to watch right now. Then, we dive into the failure of the upcoming Grammy Awards. Is this failure new? No. But this year is especially weird. Plus, HBO Max/Warner Bros. has now announced that all their new blockbusters in 2021 will now come to streaming on the day of release, fundamentally changing the movie industry standards.
In this episode, we discuss some of our favorite music, movies, and TV shows of this year as a preview for our year-end Best of 2020 lists coming in a few weeks. This has been a difficult year, but there were a lot of good distractions for which we are thankful. Then, we do a quick Q&A about future Post-Weird topics, upcoming television binges, and the Christmas season as it pertains to music and horror movies. As we approach the end of the year, we will be putting together best-of lists and our top 5 Christmas movies. Stay tuned!
This episode contains a short discussion about the Netflix show ‘The Umbrella Academy.’ This was recorded prior to Elliot Page’s recent public announcement and unfortunately includes a deadname. This timing was not intentional. Our comments remain the same: both of us are fans, believe him to be a very talented actor, and look forward to seeing him on screen. Trans rights are human rights.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! This is the HBO Max special pod from Post-Weird. With the recent news that 'Wonder Woman 1984' will go directly to streaming on Christmas day, the same day it hits movie theaters, we discuss the bet that HBO Max and Warner Bros are making on the DCU. This move, together with the huge investment in 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' (Snyder Cut) means that they are all-in on the future of this franchise, even if that future switches to streaming. Then, we talk about the heartwarming impact of 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' reunion special, also available now on HBO Max.
On this episode of Post-Weird, we're happy to have 'Star Wars' back in our lives! 'The Mandalorian' returns in excellent form to bring some light to the end of 2020. We discuss the first 3 episodes (chapters 9-11) of the 2nd season. Verdict: it's extremely good. Then, we talk about the PS5 launch and the ongoing Miles Morales star turn, the release status of 'Wonder Woman 1984,' and recent recasting news for the 'Fantastic Beasts' franchise. It's all our favorite topics this week! Thank you for listening and stay safe.
The United States will have a new President on January 20, 2021! The Trump countdown is on. But this election told us something about this country: 70 million people liked (or were okay with) what happened over the past four years. So how do we move forward from here? In this episode of Post-Weird, we have a wide-ranging discussion about what can be learned from this moment, including some thoughts on how race and class affect the way we relate to each other, how the Electoral College made this election look closer than it is, how internet disinformation continues to shape media and voting patterns, and what late-night TV and SNL can do to move forward post-Trump.
