  • Ep. 5: Voting in 2020 and reacting to the VP debate + The future of movie theaters, 'Ted Lasso' and 'Schitt's Creek' as comfort TV

First, we discuss our voting history and how we remember voting being discussed growing up, in high school, by our parents, and by celebrities - all of which we found lacking. Why is it so hard to discuss voting honestly and transparently? Find more information on voting here. Then, we briefly discuss the emotional balancing act demanded of Kamala Harris when on stage as a counter to Mike Pence. After, we dive into the delays that have pushed basically all notable movies to at least 2021. What is Disney's strategy for this, especially now that 'Soul' will be on DIsney+? We fear the end result may shift movie theater ownership to a larger corporate entity like Amazon. Plus, we discuss 'Ted Lasso,' 'Schitt's Creek,' and others, as comforting shows that are counter to the cynicism of the moment.

  • Ep. 4: There's no reason to watch the presidential debates + The 'Spider-Verse' Megapod

This week on Post-Weird, we discuss the train-wreck that was the first 2020 presidential debate, who it's for (Are there really undecided voters?), and if there should even be a second one given the White House's disregard for COVID-19 protocols. Then, we talk about recent developments in the Spider-Verse including Marvel's push towards an expanded multiverse across not only the MCU movies but Spider-Man in video games as well. With that in mind, we played a game trying to piece together our own versions of the multiverse - we each picked in 5 different categories, selecting characters from recent Spider-Man iterations to create our own Spider-Verse movie.

  • Ep. 3: Arrest the cops that killed Breonna Taylor, 'The Devil All the Time' as a sad star-vehicle, and how pop-punk might return to #1

This show exists because we wanted to speak about the never-ending cycle of despair and content, and how it shapes the way we see the world. With the grand jury verdict announcement that the cops that killed Breonna Taylor would be charged not for her murder, but for endangering the people next door, it was yet another reminder of how little this country values Black life. There is no way to separate this verdict from the larger vision, whether it be of policing or the music industry (as we saw this week as well), of how our society chews up its most vulnerable people. Please visit The Loveland Foundation and consider a donation in support of an organization that aims to prioritize access, opportunity, and validation for young Black women and girls across the country.

Includes spoilers for 'The Devil All the Time.'

  • Ep. 2: The media still can't quit the circus, 'The Mandalorian' is back, and the PS5 reveal brings us the 'Harry Potter' game of our dreams

It was a hell of a week. To start, we briefly discuss the idiocy of a Joe Rogan hosted debate while the U.S. stares into the depths of doom with the loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Why is it so hard for the media to dismiss ideas-as-car-crashes? Next, we get optimistic about the return of the saving grace of the 'Star Wars' universe, 'The Mandalorian.' And, the PS5 event unveiled 'Hogwarts Legacy' which might be the 'Harry Potter' game we've always wanted, but we aren't rushing to pre-order the console. Plus, a discussion about continued delays in the movie/TV industry.

  • Ep. 1: 'Star Wars' continues to let us down, Will Smith returns to 'Bel-Air,' and our Hall of Fame begins

After recent comments by both John Boyega and Daisy Ridley about their roles in the franchise, we dive into why the disappointment of 'Star Wars' won't just go away, for the cast or the fans. Then, Will Smith returns to 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' as executive director of a modern-day, dramatic retelling of the classic sitcom. In our reboot driven culture, we try to pinpoint what feels like a good addition to an existing story, and what just feels like corporate cosplay. Plus, it's time to kick-off the POST-WEIRD Hall of Fame.
