The Minnesota Wild evened up their series against the Vegas Golden Knights with a hot start in a 5-2 win Tuesday night in Vegas. The Wild scored 3 goals in the first period off of Vegas turnovers, as Matt Boldy, Marcus Foligno, and Mats Zuccarello all pushed the Wild out to a 3-0 lead in the period. Kirill Kaprizov scored early in the 2nd to make it 4-0. Vegas would eventually answer as Noah Hanifin cut the lead to 4-1. Tomas Hertl scored to start the 3rd to make it 4-2, but Filip Gustavsson and the Wild defense held the rest of the way. Kirill Kaprizov scored an empty net goal to make it 5-2. Filip Gustavsson stopped 30 of 32 shots, and the Wild blocked 30 shots on defense. The Wild did not commit a penalty, and were unsuccessful in their only Power Play chance of the game. The Wild will now host Vegas in Game 3 on Thursday at Xcel Energy Center.
