The Minnesota Wild snagged a point as they rallied from a 2-1 deficit late in the 3rd period, but ultimately fell in a shootout 3-2 to the Devils in New Jersey. The Wild fell to 41-28-6 with the loss, and moved 7 points ahead of idle Vancouver in the Wild Card chase. The Wild fell behind 1-0 in the first period as Luke Hughes scored his 7th goal of the season. Vinnie Hinostroza scored his 5th goal of the year in the 3rd to tie the score, but Nico Hischier scored to reclaim the lead 6 minutes later. Matt Boldy cored his 100th career goal with just over 2 minutes to play to tie the score. Neither team scored in Overtime despite chances on both sides, and Mats Zuccarello, Ryan Hartman and Matt Boldy came up empty in the shootout. The Wild went 0-2 on the Power Play and stopped both Devils' Power Plays. Filip Gustavsson stopped 26 of 28 shots in net for the Wild, who face the New York Rangers in their next game on Wednesday.
