Power After Hours

Welcome to episode 1 of CxW: The Comics x Wrestling Podcast! Here on the CxW Pod, we will cover Comics (books, shows, movies, et.) x Pro Wrestling news, shows, and wax poetic with our opinions and our fondest memories.  In this episode, Jeff, Bre, Chris Mac, and Marcus discuss the WWE Superstar Shakeup and what it means for the future of both brands, Braun Strowman with segment of 2017, Mauro Ranallo vs. JBL, The Thor Ragnarok Trailer, Ric Flair's bar escapades, Josh Brolin as Cable, Marvel's event embargo, Awesome Kong x Netflix x GLOW, the hidden controversial messages in X-Men Gold #1,  NJPW Sakura Genesis recap featuring Shibata vs. Okada and we discuss why you should diversify the wrestling you watch, especially with New Japan Pro!

This week, Jeff talks to Kriss of the MTR Network [@InsanityReport] and Joi from Black Girl Nerds [@jumpedforjoi] about the recent discussions on Diversity in comics. Recent comments by Marvel's VP David Gabriel point to "economic anxiety" with retailers around the All-New, All-Different Marvel movement. We discuss the real questions that should be asked, the hospitality of comic stores towards minorities, the technology movement towards digital comics, a deeper dive into diverse comic sales, where fans and companies are culpable, Economic vs. Social Media support, calling out trash comics regardless of representation, and more! A nuanced topic needs real talk, and we give it to ya!

This week Jeff is joined by Marcus Flowers [@MFlowCO] to discuss Twitter's new @-reply function [4:30], the first look at the CW's Black Lightning and what it means to have more representation on screen [14:30], the cautious excitement of Joss Whedon allegedly on-board to write, direct, and produce a Batgirl film [22:00], Sony's ideas for a Venom movie shared universe sans Spider-Man [28:00], all the trailers including The War of the Planet of the Apes, Spider-Man Homecoming [36:00] and Justice League [49:00], discussion on Miles Morales vs. Peter Parker, "whitewashing" and supporting diverse characters [56:00], and the Nonstop Culture WrestleMania 33 Preview & Prediction show [1:10:00].

Nonstop Culture is back with episode 2! In this episode, we got friend of the show(s) DPalm from the MTR Network to impart his comic/sports wisdom upon us. We chat about his podcast origins, and how simply being a fan of cool stuff turned into hosting multiple shows. The reward for a job well done is more work! As always, it's a fun and engaging conversation! This week in trending news we discuss:

The rumored Matrix reboot/remake/ world expansion and whether or not this is a good idea

NCAA March Madness and the high risk, high reward of filling out a bracket. DPalm is anti bracket, but Jeff praises survivor pools as the superior March Madness method of degenerate gambling behavior

LaVar Ball: Attention whore or passionate parent?

Eddie Murphy tweets about Coming to America 2 and watches the world burn, while Jeff reluctantly convinces himself that Coming to America 2 on Broadway is a thing that needs to happen

Tomi Lahren gets suspended from the Blaze for her Pro Choice views (irony much?)

Tom Brady recovers his stolen Super Bowl Jersey

Instagram allows users to save IG live stories, and Jeff finally rants about how Instagram is freezing him out of the @NonstopCulture username.

Episode 1 of the Nonstop Culture podcast is in the books! In the inaugural episode, Jeff speaks with the man with the MAC-10 pen, PROFESSOR David Dennis (has to throw the proper respek on his title now)! The Internet went insane in 24 hours after David and Jeff scheduled this show, and the content just wrote itself. The discussion points for this weeks show were:

• David's writing career, new teaching gig at Morehouse and what advice he'd give to aspiring writers.
• David's Get Out article and ignoring the warning signs of complicit racism until it's too damn late. Spoilers are discussed, and it's been about three weeks since the movie premiered so relax.
• The upcoming Burning Sands Netflix film and whether or not it accurately represents Black Greek Lettered Organizations.
• Nicki Minaj's three track response to SHether - our review, analysis and does Remy Ma have to respond?
• Atlanta's Zazie Beetz cast as Domino for Deadpool 2
• WebMD - Amazon Alexa voice integration to terrorize you into believing a pain in you toe means you're a zombie
