Mx. A is a gift to this earth. They sat down with me on the podcast this week to talk about their journey through burnout into sobriety and how it was a catalyst to come out as trans/non-binary, close their company of 15 years and then go into a totally new field as a community organizer in the trans/non-binary movement in Montreal, Canada. They shared with me how they learned how to accept themself and stop caring what others would think about their choices. They share sage wisdom about how it's not always easy, but absolutely necessary to be yourself and believe in yourself. My favorite two quotes they shared were "being out and happy and helpful is activism" and "with sobriety I learned how to live". FUCK YES!
We talk about:
- Addiction and sobriety in the LGBTQIA+ community
- How important memes and laughter are in movement work
- Burnout as a business owner/entrepreneur and finding sobriety as part of recovery from burnout
- Learning how to be more mindful and live more in the moment; living more simply
- How we all have different roles in the revolution
