In this episode 22, we discuss the power of connection and how it is vital to being successful.  It’s a science.  We can use a great example in nature to help us visualize the impact of cooperative efforts.  The tip vortex is the methodical and astonishingly synchronized, aerial tailgating that geese do.  Each bird that is behind the leader bird is taking advantage of the lift of the air coming off the wingtips of the bird in front. During long flights this then enables the team of geese to save considerable strength. The V-formation may also enhance the skein of geese’s capability to visualize and listen to each other, thus avoiding accidents. Their collaboration and cooperation prolong their life as well as gives them the opportunity to exert less energy.

There are three ways to improve yourself and stay off that island: 1). Communicate effectively  2). Work collectively, and 3). Trust the process.

Crystal Heckstall-Rice Interview - Teacher Appreciation Week

In this episode we discuss how you can use some tips to quickly bounce back or don’t let things keep you down.  Let me ask.  How are you?  Please know that you are not alone in this.  Especially know that your thoughts are not weird.  There are others that are thinking just like you.  You are not on an island; you do have an army of people with you.  We are #ordainededucators.  You may be struggling with how to deal with the social and emotional battle of what is going on while dealing with the natural demands that are being placed on you for your occupation.  Things are changing rapidly and plans are being revamped.  Its all okay.  Remember this, you have a 100% probability success rate for getting through difficult situations.  You have done it before, maybe not a situation like this but you have overcome adversity. You came out on the other side standing.  Maybe not how you wanted to but you made it! 

You made it because you were resilient.  Being resilient  means a person is able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions. Some synonyms or phrases that come to mind are tough, strong, hardy, quick to bounce back, or difficult to keep down.  I love the definition for objects, as it relates to resiliency: “able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.”  We are not inanimate objects but I know we can recoil back into shape after being stretched. That’s us! Ordained Educators! 

The four strategies to keep in mind: 

·       Be resilient but flexible 

·       Live in harmony with your thoughts  

·       Have a clear end in mind

·       Give yourself permission to feel

Willed Wednesday: Be Resilient   

On today’s episode, we discuss the incredible power of resiliency. I share a story of how my grandmother resiliently survived after the loss of my grandfather.  She did it because she networked with family. They had 18 children and 6 were still in the home when my grandfather untimely passed away. She became the electricity for the family and for decades she gave the family hope. We still strive on that resiliency! 

You have a 100% track record for success of getting through crisis.  You know how I know that?  It is because you are on this side.  You have made it every time.

Jasmine Stephens Interview - Strategies for Surviving Crisis

In this episode we interview Licensed Professional Counselor Jasmine Stephens of Image Counseling.  She offers great insight into healing and self-care.  She profoundly shares that we must take control of our body and mind.  Her advice is to actively seek to be your best self.  

Here are a few strategies to survive crisis: 

·       Relax – do deep breathing and have positive thoughts.

·       Journal or write.

·       Engage in healthy eating and drink plenty of water.

·       Have a daily routine.

·       Give yourself parameters. Learn how to stop and pause.

On today’s episode, we discuss walking in confidence and possibility.  That means being proactive. You have influence on what you can control so don’t spend your time just reacting to external events and circumstances that expend your energy.  You don’t control those things; they are in the circle of concern outside of the circle of influence.  Take charge and assume responsibility for your life by being proactive, which adds a positive energy.  This means you may have to pivot your life right now.  Seek clarity to help you navigate your life.  You were designed to be resilient.  Fear can’t stand a chance.  Your energy will carry you through.  Connect with another people and select an accountability partner to help you succeed!
