  • Praestabilis – Excellence in Marketing – 064
Welcome to Episode 64 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In episode 64 the question is…  Should I start a podcast?” I’ve been podcasting for over a decade. This most recent podcast, Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing launched in January of 2019 and I will continue to share my thoughts and ideas on marketing until I feel this podcast is complete.
What about you? Are you thinking about starting your first podcast? A client recently asked me about doing this with her friend and I decided to answer her questions on my own podcast.
Ask yourself “Why am I starting a podcast? What message do I wish to share with the world, or at least with people in my target audience? Make a list of the pros and cons, remaining as objective as possible. This is not a decision you want to make quickly, without first weighing your options and then taking action.
First, how will you record? I use a teleseminar service I’ve been with since they started the company in 2007. It’s called Instant Teleseminar and yes, I’m an affiliate for them. It’s a simple process for me to call in to my line on my iPhone or land line, start recording, and then publish the mp3 to this site, where my podcast lives on the internet.
What will your format be for your podcast? I’ve done it all ways, including doing a weekly interview series for just over two years. For this podcast, I talk for about twenty minutes, twice a month, on topics around excellence in marketing. You may also wish to consider being a guest on other people’s podcasts before starting your own. I’ve been a podcast guest many times and recommend you consider this to get started. Kathleen Gage helps people with this, and you may download her podcast checklist here.
Think about the audience you wish to reach, and use keywords in your podcast title and domain name. The word “praestabilis” translates from Latin to mean extraordinary, outstanding, or excellent. I can guarantee no one in the world in searching for this word, but they are searching for “excellence in marketing” and variations of that phrase.
iTunes ended a couple of years ago and morphed into Apple Podcasts. Search for my name – Connie Ragen Green – there and see what comes up. For my podcasts to be listed there, my podcast “feed” must talk to Apple Podcasts. If you want to keep the technology to a minimum, check out a site called Anchor.fm for more simplicity.
How long will you talk each time? The average commute time in North America is 22 minutes, so I’ve used that as a guideline for my own recordings and show.
I also have a site called Podcast Show Notes where people may find my current and previous podcasts.
The final question to ask yourself is “How will I monetize my podcast?” Subscription fees are not common, and my goal is to send people only to my main websites, blogs, and evergreen resources.
Keep podcasting once you begin, or you will become a statistic and experience something called “pod fade.”
What’s working for you right now? What do you wish to change? Create and live your true, authentic self with everything you say and do. You are worth it!
Check out my most recent articles and essays at Monday Morning Mellow.

Welcome to Episode 63 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In episode 63 I address the idea of getting to know yourself as a way to achieve the great success you want and deserve. We have both an inner and outer self, and we must answer the question “Who am I?” in order to better serve those who come to us for help and support. This applies to both your personal life and business.
Who are you right now? What type of life do you wish to live each day? Think about lifestyle design and what this means to you. We can have any life we want, so why not make each moment a joyous one? Online entrepreneurship and authorship are areas you may already be pursuing. Live mindfully, think creatively, and reach your full potential! Don’t be a stranger to your own body and mind: Find out who you are and what you want.
What’s working for you right now? What do you wish to change? Create and live your true, authentic self with everything you say and do. You are worth it!
Check out my most recent articles and essays at Monday Morning Mellow.
Reinventing myself is a concept and process I know something about. Most recently, I have reinvented myself through intermittent fasting. I’m even writing a book on this topic and the working title is The Pursuit of Healthy-ness: How I Reinvented Myself with Intermittent Fasting. This book is scheduled for release during the fall of 2021.
By my willingness to reinvent myself I’ve been able to change my life significantly through the decades. I’ve written a post about this called Reinventing Myself… Version 5. We’re always moving forward when we surrender and reinvent.
What are you doing right now in your life and your business that is working? Where do you need to make some changes? How may I best serve you as you surrender to doing what it takes? As humans, we are capable of reinventing ourselves as we change and grow.

Welcome to Episode 62 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In episode 62 I discuss the concepts of surrendering and being willing to do what it takes to achieve great success. I believe that we must humble ourselves in order to fully reach our potential and lead lives of meaning and service.
I was reading about gymnast Simone Biles and her decision to walk away from the Tokyo Olympics this week. She did what was best for her, first, and then what was best for the team. Simone was willing to surrender to her fears in order to begin the healing process and reinvent herself.

Welcome to Episode 61 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In episode 61 the topic is creating an online empire by writing and publishing a series of eBooks on your niche topic. You’ll be able to position yourself as an expert and help others to achieve their goals in the process.
I first learned about eBooks – electronic books – from Joe Vitale. He was teaching a course on this when I got started with my online business in 2006. I learned so much from Joe during this time and began writing my own eBooks on topics I was familiar with, like real estate, homeschooling, and starting an online business after age 50.
Keep in mind that this was years before Amazon jumped into the world of publishing with Kindle, Create Space (now a part of KDP – Kindle Direct Publishing) and traditional publishing was the norm for most authors. Instead, we self-published our eBooks and sold them on our own website(s) to people who wanted to learn more about our topic.
Keyword research is crucial to your success with this business model. Start out with Google and use their free Google Suggest feature. When you uncover as many keywords and keyword phrases as possible for your niche topic, people searching for what you have written about will more easily find you.
Jim Edwards has what I consider to be the best training on how to write eBooks, hands down. You’ll be amazed at how inexpensive this training is, and how much information is included.

Welcome to Episode 60 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In episode 60 the topic is one that everyone must give some thought to when they first come online. Yes, it’s choosing a business model that will work for you, the lifestyle you wish to create, and the niche and target audience you are serving.
I began back in 2006 with affiliate marketing. I did not have a list, and used my blog and my articles to get my name and message out to the world. Colin Campbell and Thomas M. Campbell II, as well as Malcolm Gladwell’s latest, The Bomber Mafia: A Dream, a Temptation, and the Longest Night of the Second World War. Reading in this way allows me to expand my mind and thinking so that I can see beyond the confines of marketing and other topics I know very well.
    * Creative writing. I think of this as writing for pleasure. My writing practice has expanded significantly over the years, and in July of 2019 I started a third blog called Monday Morning Mellow in order to have a home on the internet in which to share these stories.
    * Getting away from familiar surroundings. I began this early on in my entrepreneurial journey by going to a hotel located about an hour from my home for an overnight stay. This hotel was at the beach in Ventura, California and gave me a new perspective on my life and my business that became priceless to me over time.

Welcome to Episode 59 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In episode 59 the topic is around the concept of using your writing to change and improve your life. I did this as I was transitioning from working as a classroom teacher and in real estate as a broker and residential appraiser back in 2006 and couldn’t have chosen a better business model to follow. This allowed me to do what I describe as “changing myself from the inside out.”
Writing did not come naturally for me. I had wanted to write since I was eleven or twelve years old. I talked about the stories I would write on a regular basis. In college at UCLA I took some classes on creative writing and screenwriting and completed all of my assignments on time. But the bottom line was that, other than writing that was assigned to me over the years, I did little to no writing on my own.
Fast forward to 2021 and I have written and published well over two million words. Writing every single day is a great joy for me. People think of me as a writer because of one thing – I write! If I had ever imagined that earning a seven figure income and living the lifestyle I have designed and love could come about as a result of my writing, I would not have believed it possible.
I’m encouraging you to write every day. Write about what you know, share stories from your heart and your life experiences, and publish your writing, at least online for others to read. In episode 58 the topic is around the concept of using entrepreneurship to improve your life. I did this inadvertently as I was transitioning from working as a classroom teacher and in real estate as a broker and residential appraiser back in 2006.
It was during this period when I realized that I was at the “unconscious incompetence” level of entrepreneurship. I didn’t know what I didn’t know and this motivated me to do what I continue to describe as “changing myself from the inside out.

  • Praestabilis – Excellence in Marketing – 056
Welcome to Episode 56 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In episode 56 I discuss something called “disruption marketing.” This is similar to your USP, or unique selling proposition or unique selling position. What makes disruption marketing different and unique is that it helps your prospects to achieve greater success than they could otherwise.
What makes you different from everyone else in your niche? That was the million dollar question the year I got started online. Like many new online entrepreneurs, we feel like we have nothing new and unique to share, but that simply isn’t true. I’ll be discussing this topic on my podcast later today.
The truth is that no one else could possibly be doing what we do because we are all unique human beings. Even if we attempt to be like someone else, it won’t work. Using something known as “disruption marketing,” your goal is to become known for something you are doing. I initially achieved this by proclaiming that you did NOT need a list of 10K or more to get to 6 figures a year, because I had done it with a list of 651 names! You may have been one of those people on my list at that time.

    * This is what I’m recommending for you to make sure you can disrupt your market in an awesome way:
Observe your own behavior and results. What are you doing differently from others? This could be around your content creation, product and course creation or delivery, social media updates, or something else altogether.
    * Change up your routine. I typically send out my email message between 9:30 and 10am ET each day. What if I sent it an hour or two later, or earlier – would my community pay attention and take some type of action?
    * Write and speak about what you’re doing to grow your business so that anyone who wants to can read or listen to your ideas. I promise many more great ideas will come if you do this.
    * Think of yourself as a disruptor – this alone will begin to make a difference in your results.

Welcome to Episode 55 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

The topic of episode 55 is membership sites. Do you have a membership site? Did you know that it’s never been easier to set up and run an online membership site to build your business? I explain why starting with a free model may be the most effective method for you, and how you can grow over time with a paid site.
When I first came online in 2006, the software necessary to set up a membership site was expensive, clunky, and required a tech person to make changes and updates on a regular basis. At that time I believed that having my own membership site would not be possible.
Within a year I had joined a Mastermind that included two brilliant young men. You may recognize one or both of their names – Stu McLaren and Tracy Childers. They had also been frustrated with the current situation around building membership sites and decided to do something about it. The result was Wishlist Member, their WordPress plugin that made it simple, easy, and inexpensive to set up membership sites. Over that summer I watched as their new business took off around the world, and I started my very first membership Site!
