Our Lone Star story of the day: Donald J. Trump was invested with the Office of the President today in the Capitol Rotunda in the City of Washington. I’m pleased to bring you his entire inaugural address.
Also, I point out Democrats used the event to lie and propagandize about this being a “democracy” which it is not. Leftist Senator Amy Klobuchar opened by misleading the American people.
Democracy: government by the people: rule of the majority. This is the first and pure definition from Merriam-Webster and something our founders specifically opposed.
The United States of America is a Republic: a government in which the power belongs to a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by the leaders and representatives elected by those citizens to govern according to law. This matters much because Democrats claim that might makes right, meaning, as was the case with Democrat-backed slavery and segregation, that an opinion of a voting majority is superior to guaranteed natural and constitutional rights.

Texas baby murdering activist Cecile Richards, daughter of that piece of work Governor Ann Richards, died this morning of brain cancer. I guess she’ll be explaining to the Lord why killing millions of innocent babies was such a good idea.
Houston so certain of snow and ice tonight that both Hobby and Bush Intercontinental airports are closing at midnight and closed on Tuesday – a huge economic cost.

Lieutenant Governor Patrick releases Senate committee assignments for the 89th session.
West Texas and state media praises Dustin Burrows for “bipartisanship. He won the Speaker chair with many more Democrat votes than Republican, showing that, as always, things that lean Democrat are praised because the media are liberal. Take this big Texas Tribune story: House Democrats hope to benefit after supporting speaker. Note Leftwinger John Bucy praised Burrows for working to weaken election integrity legislation last session!

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Are local TV stations being completely honest with you when they gin up anger and tell you the local cable, or satellite, or internet TV provider is “dropping” their channel? No, they are not telling you the whole truth and are in many cases spinning the issue opposite of truth. It is rarely the cable provider dropping the channel, in almost all cases it is the local station refusing the cable company permission for retransmission of the channel because it will not cough up ever more money to do so – which just gets passed right along to you in your cable or satellite TV bill.
Wikipedia isn’t great but the top part of this entry will give you a basic idea of what is going on and how it got started.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: New Speaker of the House, Dustin BurrowCrat, delays House Rules vote until 22 January - the longest delay since the first illegitimate speaker, Joe Straus, came into office the first time. Good or bad? Time will tell but the biggest problem we have faced each session is the House not getting to work early.
Burrows has earned the BurrowCrat moniker by losing his own party's vote for speaker and yet winning with a large number of Democrats. Burrows won the gavel with the support of only 36 Republicans and 49 Democrats making him illegitimate as a "Republican" speaker. See how every member of the House voted on each ballot here.

Today, Texas argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in support of its law requiring age-verification to access pornography online. The ACLU teamed with the porn industry to oppose such a common sense thing.

Our Lone Star story of the day: The 89th Texas Legislature comes into being tomorrow and the first order of business in the Texas House of Representatives, or should we say investment partners, is to elect a Speaker of the House. Lt. Governor Patrick, and it now seems Newt Gingrich’s group, allege that the BurrowCrat Coalition is run by five guys who are business partners in a small bank that has big investment from BlackRock & Vanguard.

Our Lone Star story of the day: The 89th Texas Legislature comes into being next Tuesday and meets for 140 days. The House starts it off with an entirely avoidable fight for speaker laden with dishonesty, hypocrisy, and absurdity. Beyond that are many general issues to which lawmakers will giving attention – that is if enough of them can get over their self-importance and get to work.

Our Lone Star story of the day: There are big, expensive lessons for Texas coming out of the Los Angeles urban wildfires. So far, Texas legislators, while aware of the problem for years, have not had the fortitude to fix it. We have similar problems with TWIA as California has with FAIR and it is because of politicians.
DeVore: Government mismanagement, not climate change, is to blame for California’s destructive wildfires. Chuck references a book all should read, especially young adults, so that they can see what wimps we have become compared to our American ancestors: Two Years Before the Mast by Dana.

The Texas GOP battle over whether or not the Texas House Republican Caucus should select the Speaker of the House is nasty, bitter, and now beyond the absurd. Burrowcrat Coalition backer Rep. Cody Harris “seeks felony charges against Texas GOP chairman”for standing up for the party’s platform and Burrowcrat “scorched earth” backer Rep. Carl Tepper says George Soros is running the Republican Party of Texas! Both of these things are beneath the bottom rung.

Paxton makes the point I make: This is about having the GOP caucus choose the Speaker, not about Cook or Burrows. Note both Cook and Burrows participated in the scheme to impeach Paxton.

Our Lone Star story of the day: “Scorched earth,” belittling the Governor and Lt. Governor, and much more keeps coming from the Lubbock House delegation in its tantrum-style effort to gain the Texas House Speaker’s gavel. Beyond the obvious self-serving nature of the effort so far is the issue of the false arguments being offered by most including almost all press coverage. The race is not about Burrows and his Burrowcrat Coalition or David Cook and his backers, it about putting an end to the “most pervasive, long-lasting, and heavily funded divide in the Texas Republican Party.“
