Our Lone Star story of the day: The BurrowCrat Coalition to advance Dustin Burrows’ goal of becoming Texas House Speaker has brought us an interesting side show which demonstrates many comments I have made on the air over the past couple of years about Republican groups selling themselves out for big donations.

James Quintero of the Texas Public Policy Foundation joins us to offer up four changes legislators need to make to put teeth into election law that is flouted more and more brazenly by public school officials.

Dustin Burrows created the BurrowCrat Coalition to advance his goal of becoming Texas House Speaker and in so doing whacked at the hornets’ nest of Texas G.O.P. politics. When you do such for no discernible reason other than self-advancement, you often create opposition that wouldn’t have existed otherwise – and that’s what the BurrowCrats have done: A new Texas PAC seeded with $20 million to be used to separate the Republican chaff from the grain.
A media report says that Governor Abbott will ask for even more money for his Operation Lone Star even though we were promised time and again that funding needs would be much lower if Trump policies were back in place. Legislators should say “no way!”

Our Lone Star story of the day: The BurrowCrat Coalition posits an interesting charge: The Republican House Caucus is “broken.” The problem is that if you read Rep. Terry Wilson’s op-ed backing BurrowCrat Burrows for Speaker of the House, he never gives any evidence at all of anything “broken” in the caucus other than that the majority didn’t support his candidate. Also, he repeats the lie that something was amiss with not being granted a “brief recess” once the voting process had already started. I address this oft repeated misdirection.
I also address the how the press, in many recent stories, left out the paramount issue with the Bonnen-Burrows scandal of a few years back. It’s what they leave out that should give pause to members support Burrows.

Fort Worth liberal Democrat Councilman Nettles says the release of a recording is to “tarnish his name.” Funny, I think it’s what he is recorded as saying that tarnishes his already murky reputation.
SpaceX’s Starlink revenue in 2025 now projected to be $11.8 billion. T-Mobile initiates direct-cell-to-satellite texting using Starlink. Europe to spend $11 billion to build its own Starlink government constellation. All this begs the question: Why are Texans, and federal taxpayers too, spending billions to provide rural broadband Internet service when it is already available with more coming online soon?!

Our Lone Star story of the day: Much news of Texas including yet another example of how wrong are the Civic Cheerleaders and others who denigrate and disparage citizens who show up, watch, and question local government. Give this story a read. How does someone in a relatively small town sit on the city payroll at almost $100,000 per year and yet no one really knows what the person does?

Our Lone Star story of the day: Noted space historian Robert Zimmerman of behindtheblack.com(he really did write the Encyclopedia of Space) joins us to talk about Trump’s big decision to appoint billionaire and private astronaut Jared Isaacman as NASA Administrator.
Zimmerman hints at an essay he was working on earlier this week when we recorded the interview on what Isaacman will do, or should do, at NASA. That is now published here. Part 1 and Part 2.
Also we talk about the current state of work by SpaceX and Blue Origin, both companies have a big presence in Texas.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The BurrowCrat Coalition of Democrats and mostly non-conservative Republicans led by Rep. Dustin Burrows continues to make enemies. Now Governor Abbott stresses that the Speaker needs to come from within the GOP caucus by majority vote and the Lt. Governor agrees. Burrows and crew walked out before the vote total for the nomination changed to three-fifths on the third vote. Walked out and went and did a deal with the radical Left Democrats.
Clearly power-hungry insiders like Burrows and his BurrowCrats don’t care but momentum for what’s right grows: Over 100 Republican County chairmen are now backing David Cook for House Speaker.
Rep. Stan Lambert, a BurrowCrat at the moment, said yesterday in a packed forum in Abilene that there will likely be another House Speaker candidate emerge before the vote in January. It wasn’t covered by the media but it is in the transcript of the forum:
“So what’s the outcome gonna be? I don’t know. There’s very likely to be another candidate emerge before January the 14th that maybe the majority of the Republicans would support cuz they’ve got to get to number 53. The 53 is the number that they’ve got to get to and neither Cook nor Burroughs was able to achieve that on Saturday.”
And yet Burrows is now using the Speaker-elect title. It doesn’t sound like his own team agrees!

Our Lone Star story of the day: Demonstrating the height of hypocrisy and a low of integrity, the Texas House Republican Caucus process of nominating a candidate for Speaker of the House (without Democrat influence) Saturday turned into a mess of putting personal ambition ahead or principle and past commitments – once again handing power to choose a House speaker to Leftist Democrats in the Texas Legislature.

Our Lone Star story of the day: The Texas House Speaker race has changed overnight: Without enough votes to win, the Austin swamp swimmer leader Speaker Dade Phelan has withdrawn from the race for re-election. His Austin swamp swimmer cabal is trying the old switcheroo in order to remain in power by running Lubbock’s state Rep. Dustin Burrows for the job. It goes downhill from there.
How do you get reform by electing the same group? Burrows has been “the other man in the room” in the last two Speaker failures. Rep. Brian Harrison makes the point here.
