Our Lone Star story of the day: Speaking to a caucus gathering at the Republican Party of Texas Convention in San Antonio, Senator John Cornyn says he is definitely planning to run for re-election in 2026. Gromer Jeffers, Jr. at the Dallas Morning News broke the story.

Once a big investment has been made in certain politicians, it is costly to have one of them lose re-election and the gambling lobby knows it. Las Vegas Sands is pouring money into saving the race of Speaker Phelan as well as other incumbents.
Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 will remember Texan Johnny Rutherfords first, of three, wins at the Brickyard. Fort Worth Report has a great story on the speedy Texan.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: A Texas Senate hearing showed how horrible it is for legislators to ignore the culture wars. All tax and regulatory policy, through the reps elected by voters, ultimately flows from the culture and that must be remembered.
The hearing showed that DEI is “deeply embedded” in the personal and world view of Texans in our colleges. I posit that such couldn’t happen just at college; they must also be experiencing such in public school before college. Read this coverage of the hearing from Sherry Sylvester and then you should realize that ignoring culture/social issues is a recipe for failure for Republicans and disaster for our country.

The Texas GOP convention is underway in San Antonio and the pressure on the lobby’s boy, Drinker of the House Dade Phelan, began early.
I comment on a story (more) about how one can circumvent a secret ballot in Texas. Statement from the Secretary of State.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Israel proves the fallacy of DEI and CRT fundamentals and of Progressive political ideology and that’s why progressives so hate the Jewish state outside of issues of antisemitism. It’s never been put better and more succinctly than in this piece: Why progressives hate Israel.
“In other words, Israel is a threat because it challenges the tenets of modern progressive dogma. It is easier for them to believe instead that Israel’s successes – its stellar human rights record, its diverse and vibrant democracy, its flourishing economy – are somehow due to thieving and immorality than it is to admit that triumph over adversity is possible on a personal, national and cultural scale.”
This links directly with the fraud of DEI that has now been shown to have been a major cancer in our Texas state institutions.

Uvalde taxpayers to pay $2 million to families of school shooting victims. Why? And that’s not enough: Today, Uvalde victims’ families sue Texas state police officers. I’ve much to say on the subject.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is doubling down on policies that have put all electric grids in peril of failure and is driving up electricity costs. Leftist ill-founded dreams have real world costs.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Local government good ol’ boy bricks-for-brains running Palo Pinto County decided to infringe on political speech at election time as they are still upset that their buddy, state Rep. Glenn Rogers, was beaten in the GOP primary. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has told them to stop it! Details can be found here: 5th Circ. Halts Texas County’s Electioneering Rules – Law360.

There is a very long story at the Texas Tribune headlined: Texas’ Republican old guard mobilizes to protect Dade Phelan from the far right. For all the quotes and analysis given, the writers and so-called experts miss the real reason why some mega donors want to preserve the status quo in the Texas House, which at present means Dade Phelan. I will tell you exactly what that reason is that others seem unable to grasp.
We visit with Ben Armenta, chairman candidate for the Texas Republican Party.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Has your insurance company blamed skyrocketing rates on “global warming” to the media? Like with most such claims, the data doesn’t support the assertion. Texas legislators should include clear language that blaming price hikes, denial of coverage, reduction of coverage, etc. on the politically loaded idea of climate change is a form of consumer fraud in Texas.

Trump says Texas A.G. Ken Paxton would make good U.S. attorney general. And, Trump directly addressed the threat to the Second Amendment in his talk to the NRA annual meeting in Dallas this weekend. Governor Abbott spoke as well.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: As I said yesterday, don’t expect an honest media narrative on Abbott’s pardon of Daniel Perry who was wrongly convicted of murder in Travis County for defending himself against a “Black Lives Matter” protester. Dems fume! And, Texas Monthly takes the prize as the most outrageous and stupid reaction I saw in general press review: Why Did Greg Abbott Pardon a Racist Murderer?

Across the nation, and even here in Texas, don’t expect government to protect your children from sexual perversion, pornography, or homosexual recruitment. Sadly government is helping spread the sin. “But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.” — Matthew 18:6

Governor Abbott, upon recommendation from the Board of Pardons and Paroles, has issued a pardon for Daniel Perry who was wrongly convicted of murder in Travis County for defending himself against a “Black Lives Matter” protester. Don’t expect an honest media narrative on this one!

A&M’s Sharp calls news stories wrong but only after being caught! (By the way, this link from KBTX is a full rewrite from the earlier version that I used on the show.) The evidence plainly shows that Texas A&M was working rapidly to implement Biden’s perverted changes to Title IX to let men play girls sports. If the reports weren’t true then why is the A&M Title IX chief now suspended?

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The entire 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, en banc, heard arguments on Galveston County’s redistricting case yesterday. At issue is whether the Voting Rights Act can be perverted to allow for “coalitions” of minorities. It is a major case that stands to greatly affect most of Texas. If the Left prevails, it will lead to further Balkanization of the country and further empower Leftist revolution in our society.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The Biden Administration, through the IWBC, is claiming that it owns Texas’ Fronton Island in the Rio Grande from which drug cartels were working their evil. Texas secured the island from the cartels but Biden’s folks now want Texas to remove its work and effectively hand it back over to the cartels. It makes you wonder if the administration, like that of Mexico, is now directly working to help the murderous cartels. Suing over ownership is one thing, but demanding Texas remove barriers and other works which stopped the island from being a cartel asset raises serious questions.

Democrat, at campaign event, says that Speaker of the House Phelan met with Dems before they acted on busting the House quorum. The implication was that Phelan essentially gave them a free hand so to do.
The Hemp hype has proven to be what I said it was from an agricultural point of view but the negatives from the rush to legalize its growing continue to plague Texas. Lt. Gov. Patrick is attempting to fix much of that.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Congressman Henry Cuellar and his wife were indicted by the Biden DOJ. Now two former Democrat Party “political consultants,” a.k.a. swamp swimmers, are taking a DOJ plea deal to cooperate in the prosecution of the Cuellars. Also, a woman from Azerbaijan who lives in Houston, has taken a plea deal as well.
