  • Episode 3300: Texas has new fine related to service dogs | Impeachment moves to defense | DACA illegal – Pratt on Texas 9/14/2023
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: The Paxton impeachment trial moves to the defense but is it necessary? House prosecutors have no introduced and hard evidence of crimes committed – but then again, this is not a real trial. This is a political trial and nothing can make senators vote on true evidence and evidence standards; the vote will be on politics. If you watch all hours of prosecution testimony, you’ll hear time and again that something was “odd,” “unusual,” or just a policy or action decision with which arrogant staff disagreed and, to them, that was merely suggestive of law breaking and yet they never had any actual evidence of law breaking. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Federal judge affirms that DACA is not legal but won’t kick out those enrolled in the illegal program before the date of his original decision which just lets the illegality stand.Kroger deal to buy Albertson’s will mean the sale of some Texas assets. • Episode 3299: Dangerous subtext in impeachment trial | Lubbock leaders cannot control spending | Border news – Pratt on Texas 9/13/2023
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: There is a subtext throughout the testimony of Texas law enforcement people in the Paxton impeachment trial that is terrible and yet confirming of what we’ve seen out of Washington, DC over the last decade. What chance to regular people have when officials outright dismiss, before hearing any specific argument of seeing any evidence, the idea that government agencies such as the FBI, DOJ, or top state law enforcement may have done wrong? These people not only dismiss such but openly say that such allegations are “going nowhere” with them and their agencies. It all appears to be another sign of just how bad the new American aristocracy and “deep state” has become and that it is just as present in Texas as in DC.Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Lubbock’s new “conservative” city council members and mayor vote for tax increase – except Councilman Mark McBrayer who voted “no” and kept his promise to taxpayers.Biden’s keep-’em-in-Texas policy getting pushback and other border news.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. • Episode 3298: How Paxton’s ordeal fits in the national conservative struggle | TEA to soften truth of school grades – Pratt on Texas 9/12/2023
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: How does the Paxton impeachment link to the national battle in which we find ourselves? How is it that supposedly super-conservatives who worked for Paxton find immediately, even before hearing someone’s story or seeing any evidence, that it is preposterous, or “crazy,” that U.S. Department of Justice or FBI personnel might engage in wrong behavior? The entire nation has seen DOJ and FBI misconduct of the deepest and worst manner and at the highest level for years now but, these folks’ biggest objections to Paxton’s policy decision with the Nate Paul complaint is to call it crazy to even look at – so crazy that it makes it magically illegal. Why is it a problem for them? Because, if you listen, you’ll understand that this is the world in which these people live and earn a living from. That’s why Paul Gottfried’s column today at American Greatness so well sets a background narrative for the entire Paxton impeachment: The Empire Strikes Back: Conservative establishmentarians are becoming bolder about showing their revulsion for the populist Right. Also, I’ve included just one, of many, examples of testimony from the “legendary” former Texas Ranger Dave Maxwell, former Director of Law Enforcement Operations at the Attorney General’s office, to give you a more accurate idea of what the accusers sound like than you get from most press reports. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Texas Education Agency to delay making public school A to F grades public because it looks too bad for the schools – gotta work with the insiders to keep just how bad it is for students, parents, and taxpayers bottled up.Trial Begins Over Texas Voter Laws That Sparked 38-Day Walkout by Democrats in 2021. – Why weren’t they impeached? • Episode 3297: FAA vs SpaceX StarShip with Zimmerman | No direct evidence yet of law breaking in impeachment trial – Pratt on Texas 9/11/2023
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day:  More from the impeachment imbroglio in Austin. The legendary former Texas Ranger Dave Maxwell, former Director of Law Enforcement Operations at the Attorney General’s office, was a complete dud. Maxwell makes the arrogant young lawyers look humble in his attitude and demonstrated the worst in law enforcement by prejudging most everything to do with the case before having any evidence to reach even a reasonable level of competence. In many ways Maxwell’s testimony was self-contradicting and he also engaged in repeated defamation of Mr. Nate Paul from the beginning – without evidence. The most damning of all of Maxwell’s, and attorney Ryan Vassar’s,, testimony (Thursday and Friday) is that they actually provide no evidence that A.G. Paxton broke any law or committed any terrible infraction other than disagreeing with them – Vassar and Maxwell. So far this has been the case with all witnesses: Paxton broke the law because he held attitudes and took actions with which the witnesses disagreed. No direct evidence, or in my opinion even suggestive evidence, has been directly testified to in the first week of the impeachment trial. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Bob Zimmerman: Good news? • Episode 3296: Articles of impeachment keep falling on cross-ex, one by one | Why has House hidden witness interviews? – Pratt on Texas 9/8/2023
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day:  Ken Paxton’s impeachment imbroglio  continues and testimony and new evidence keeps knocking down the poorly prepared House impeachment articles. Worse, we learn that it appears House investigators, under the sanctimonious git Rep. Andrew Murr, have hidden evidence from the defense and their own lawyers – why?Likely because like other evidence coming forward in cross-examination after cross-examination, it doesn’t support their trumped up allegations against Paxton. I play audio today related to this.Today I explain why there has been relatively little in the press about the 2nd key witness Ryan Bangert and his testimony. First, after an hour on the stand he is likely disliked by even the most anti-Paxton liberal in the press pool. Bangert is everything a lawyer does not want on the stand and arrogance pours forth like Niagara Falls. But worse, like Mateer, what he offers up doesn’t support the charges against Paxton in the manner the House intended. We also learn of a key text to him previously not disclosed by the House managers that puts the proper context on non-official-opinion A.G. opinion in question.I offer substantial audio today to give you a feel of how things are going.Again, as I said yesterday, there is a common theme of an arrogance from the staffers, the bureaucrats, that only they are to run everything; everything that happens should conform to their personal ideas of what is normal or usual,, and; that the elected boss is a figure head who should not actually lead or impose his view of policy upon the agency. This is common across the permanent bureaucracy in Washington and states but it surprising how strong it is from the conservative attorneys. It is as if they do not see this in themselves.Rubber-stamping Star Chambers; the shameful vote of Texas state senators to accept “evidence gathered in violation of the law” in the impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.First positive oil and gas rig count report in a while.Biden gets nastier on the border and Texas gets to keep the buoys in the Rio Grande for a while longer.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. • Episode 3295: Impeachment imbroglio | Rubber-stamping injustice | Texas loses on floating border barrier | Grid scare – Pratt on Texas 9/7/2023
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day:  The impeachment imbroglio of Ken Paxton continues and I provide an overall summary of the testimony of the first two witnesses. There is a common theme of an arrogance from the staffers, the bureaucrats, that only they are to run everything; everything that happens should conform to their personal ideas of what is normal or usual,, and; that the elected boss is a figure head who should not actually lead or impose his view of policy upon the agency. • Episode 3294: Impeachment’s #1 witness a disaster for House impeachers | Lubbock sheriff’s spending spat – Pratt on Texas 9/6/2023
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day:  The impeachment imbroglio of Ken Paxton continued with a House Persecutor lawyer questioning their “key witness,” former First Assistant Attorney General Jeff Mateer. Not only did the testimony never come close to establishing that Mr. Mateer had any specific knowledge or evidence of Paxton breaking the law, his testimony gave tremendous credence to the spoiled staffers environment in which the appointees actually think they are above the one who appointed them – in this case the elected Attorney General. In cross-examination, the entire narrative of the House impeachers fell apart and showed precisely, under oath this time, exactly what I had explained three years ago happened. These arrogant folks went to the FBI to try and destroy Paxton without bothering to ask even the most basic questions about what it was that had “alarmed” them. Now, with egg on the face, it is fully admitted that they were simply ignorant of the work that was being done, not for Nate Paul, but for the Travis County D.A.’s office. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Comment on Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe’s budget tiff with the commissioners court.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. • Episode 3293: Texas Senate supports using unlawfully obtained evidence; more impeachment show trial absurdity – Pratt on Texas 9/5/2023
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day:  A full review of the motions, votes, and opening statements from the Paxton impeachment debacle which began in our Texas Senate today. There were many terrible votes in the early motions by senators showing only six to eight have much respect for the Rule of Law and constitutional protections. Among the worst votes was 22 to 8 voting against the motion to exclude unlawfully obtained “evidence.” Even Lubbock’s Senator Charles Perry voted “Nay” on such – it’s beyond shocking.I must say I was near tears in Buzbee’s opening because of how personal to me it was. As one of the few long timers who has followed each and every element of the attacks on Paxton over many years, but almost never reads a press account that less than ignorant on what has happened, I was shocked to hear Buzbee echo the things I have said many times about these issues and often in similar language. He even started with the victory of Dan Branch just as I have explained for all of this time! I have felt quite alone in my overall knowledge of these issues making Buzbee’s comments was a type of confirmation of my decade of commentary on the Paxton issue as a whole. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Disturbing economic trends from the Dallas Fed report: Manufacturing continues to decline and retail sales remain in the dumps.
