Prayer for the Faithful Departed

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,

and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Almighty and merciful Father,

we remember today all our brothers and sisters who have gone before us

marked with the sign of faith.

Console us in our grief and grant that we may see them again

in the joy of Your heavenly kingdom.

Lord Jesus Christ,

by Your death and resurrection,

You have destroyed the power of sin and death.

Grant them everlasting life and let them share in Your glory.

Strengthen us in faith,

fill us with hope,

and lead us to the eternal home You have prepared

for all who love You.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
