I hate surprises. I hate having to keep secrets. I cannot handle it one bit.
Ask my wife. I am the guy who always buys gifts weeks early and then wants to give them the minute I get home.
Having to keep a secret for months is EXCRUCIATING. In April 2022, I filmed for a documentary series called Let Us Prey: A Ministry of Scandals — and then had to keep it under wraps for a year and a half, until the show premiered in November 2023. By the time the trailer premiered I was DYING.
That’s why I’m so relieved that I can officially, finally announce that in December 2025, I flew across the country to film for another hush hush television series — and now, almost 8 months later, I can tell you about it!
Variety reports, “Season 2 of Toxic, the Elizabeth Chambers-hosted true crime series that explores poisonous romantic relationships and the trauma they cause, will premiere on Investigation Discovery on Sept. 15. According to ID’s announcement, the series will continue doing what it does best, following “Chambers as she speaks with survivors of toxic relationships, domestic abuse, and intimate partner violence and explores cases from all over the country.”
I think my audience will be interested to know that one episode in particular is going to feature a case about coercion and abuse within an Independent Fundamental Baptist church — and it’s going to feature my friend and survivor, Sarah Jackson! The best part of the whole experience was that after years of talking virtually, I got to fly out and meet her in person.
The episodes premiere on ID at 10 pm ET/PT on Tuesdays, and roll out weekly, also streaming on HBO Max — this episode looks like it’ll land somewhere in the latter half of the releases.
I'm so excited to see this episode air, and for Sarah's story to reach more people who might need to hear it.
I can’t wait to see how this turned out, and I’m honored I got to participate. Elizabeth was incredible — even if she was concerned about my Red Bull intake on set.
And the rest of the crew were clearly talented and also so kind and accommodating as well. Really enjoyed getting to have a lot of great conversations on and off-camera with them.
A cool bonus piece of context is that Toxic is going to appear on Investigation Discovery — which is where Let Us Prey premiered a few years ago, so it’s cool to be back on the same network. But another cool piece of context is that this particular project is produced by Breaklight Pictures — they have an amazing track record, putting out shows like Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed. Great company to be in.
Obviously can’t share much more now, just wanted to drop something on the channel and podcast feed to let you know to keep an eye out for Season 2 of Toxic! Throw a reminder on your calendar, set that TiVo, get that blank VHS ready… or just tune in to HBO Max… that probably makes the most sense.
