Jesus Christ came once, suffered once, and gave Himself once for all. His sacrifice was not temporary or incomplete—it was God’s perfect provision for sin. We all face death and judgment, but Jesus has made a way of salvation through His sacrifice. He was offered once to bear the sins of many. The work has been done. The sacrifice has been made. Jesus did it once for all. Have you trusted in Him?
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Hebrews 9:24-28 “24 For the Christ is not entered into holy places made with hand, figures of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us:25 nor in order that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy places every year with blood not his own;
26 since he had [then] been obliged often to suffer from the foundation of the world. But now once in the consummation of the ages he has been manifested for [the] putting away of sin by his sacrifice.27 And forasmuch as it is the portion of men once to die, and after this judgment;28 thus the Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear to those that look for him the second time without sin for salvation.”
Hebrews 9:10 “9 then he said, Lo, I come to do thy will. He takes away the first that he may establish the second;10 by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
Hebrews 10:19 “9 then he said, Lo, I come to do thy will. He takes away the first that he may establish the second;10 by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

Jesus came into the world, but many refused to receive Him. Yet John tells us that “as many as received him, to them gave he the right to be children of God. What does it mean to receive Jesus? Through the stories of Zacchaeus, Martha and Mary, and Simeon, we see different encounters with Jesus—and what happens when a person truly receives Him.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
John 1:11-12 “11 He came to his own, and his own received him not;12 but as many as received him, to them gave he [the] right to be children of God, to those that believe on his name;”
Luke 19:1-10 “19 And he entered and passed through Jericho.2 And behold, [there was] a man by name called Zacchaeus, and he was chief tax-gatherer, and he was rich.3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was: and he could not for the crowd, because he was little in stature.4 And running on before, he got up into a sycamore that he might see him, for he was going to pass that [way].
5 And when he came up to the place, Jesus looked up and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for to-day I must remain in thy house.6 And he made haste and came down, and received him with joy.7 And all murmured when they saw [it], saying, He has turned in to lodge with a sinful man.8 But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I return [him] fourfold.
9 And Jesus said to him, To-day salvation is come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham;10 for the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which is lost.”
Luke 10:38-42 “37 And he said, He that shewed him mercy. And Jesus said to him, Go, and do *thou* likewise.38 And it came to pass as they went that *he* entered into a certain village; and a certain woman, Martha by name, received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also, having sat down at the feet of Jesus was listening to his word.40 Now Martha was distracted with much serving, and coming up she said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Speak to her therefore that she may help me.41 But Jesus answering said to her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things;42 but there is need of one, and Mary has chosen the good part, the which shall not be taken from her.”
Luke 2:25-34 “25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was just and pious, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and [the] Holy Spirit was upon him.26 And it was divinely communicated to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he should see [the] Lord’s Christ.
27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and as the parents brought in the child Jesus that they might do for him according to the custom of the law,28 *he* received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,29 Lord, now thou lettest thy bondman go, according to thy word, in peace;
30 for mine eyes have seen thy salvation,31 which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples;32 a light for revelation of [the] Gentiles and [the] glory of thy people Israel.33 And his father and mother wondered at the things which were said concerning him.34 And Simeon blessed them”

Who is worthy? Revelation 5 points us to the Lord Jesus Christ — the One who has overcome, the Lamb who was slain, and the One who has redeemed us by His blood. He is worthy not only because of what He has done, but because of who He is: “He is altogether lovely.”
But what should mark those who belong to Him while we wait for His return? Proverbs 31 presents the woman of worth — a picture that points us toward the Lamb’s wife and the character, faithfulness, wisdom and devotion that should mark the church. This Address turns our eyes to the worth of Christ and challenges us to live as those who belong to Him.

Revelation 5:1-10 “5 And I saw on the right hand of him that sat upon the throne a book, written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals.2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who [is] worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?3 And no one was able in the heaven, or upon the earth, or underneath the earth, to open the book, or to regard it.
4 And *I* wept much because no one had been found worthy to open the book nor to regard it.5 And one of the e lders says to me, Do not weep. Behold, the lion which [is] of the tribe of Juda, the root of David, has overcome [so as] to open the book, and its seven seals.6 And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God [which are] sent into all the earth:7 and it came and took [it] out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
8 And when it took the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, having each a harp and golden bowls full of incenses, which are the prayers of the saints.9 And they sing a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open its seals; because thou hast been slain, and hast redeemed to God, by thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,10 and made them to our God kings and priests; and they shall reign over the earth.”
Song of Songs 5:9-16 “9 What is thy beloved more than [another] beloved, Thou fairest among women? What is thy beloved more than [another] beloved, That thou dost so charge us?10 My beloved is white and ruddy, The chiefest among ten thousand.11 His head is [as] the finest gold; His locks are flowing, black as the raven;12 His eyes are like doves by the water-brooks, Washed with milk, fitly set;13 His cheeks are as a bed of spices, raised beds of sweet plants; His lips lilies, dropping liquid myrrh.
14 His hands gold rings, set with the chrysolite; His belly is bright ivory, overlaid [with] sapphires;15 His legs, pillars of marble, set upon bases of fine gold: His bearing as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars;16 His mouth is most sweet: Yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, yea, this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.”
Proverbs 31:10-13 “10 Who can find a woman of worth? for her price is far above rubies.11 The heart of her husband confideth in her, and he shall have no lack of spoil.
12 She doeth him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.13 She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.”
Proverbs 31:20 “20 She stretcheth out her hand to the afflicted, and she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.”
Proverbs 31:23 “23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.”
Proverbs 31:26-28 “26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and upon her tongue is the law of kindness.27 She surveyeth the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband [also], and he praiseth her:”

In the famous painting Checkmate, a young man appears to have nowhere to go. The game is almost over—but there is still one move he can make to escape checkmate. The Bible tells us that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. God has made the way of escape, but there is a response only you can make: repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
There is one move you can make to be saved. The next move is yours.

Acts 4:8-12 “8 Then Peter, filled with [the] Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people and elders [of Israel],9 if *we* this day are called upon to answer as to the good deed [done] to the infirm man, how *he* has been healed,
10 be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazaraean, whom *ye* have crucified, whom God has raised from among [the] dead, by *him* this [man] stands here before you sound [in body].11 *He* is the stone which has been set at nought by you the builders, which is become the corner stone.12 And salvation is in none other, for neither is there another name under heaven which is given among men by which we must be saved.”
Titus 2:11-14 “11 For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared,12 teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,
13 awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.

The Gospel is not simply a message about religion, morality, or turning over a new leaf—it is a message about a Person: Jesus Christ. He who was rich became poor for our sake. He came to bring good news to the poor, liberty to the captives, sight to the blind, and freedom to those who are crushed. He gave Himself to redeem us from sin and make us His own.
In the Gospels, we see the transforming power of Jesus in the life of a man who was broken, bound and beyond human help. After encountering Christ, he was found sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. His life had been changed, and he could not keep silent about what Jesus had done for him.
This is the heart of the Gospel: Jesus Christ came to save, to redeem, to restore and to transform. He is not only the theme of the Gospel—He is the Saviour the Gospel declares.
Come and hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
2 Corinthians 8:9 “9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sakes he, being rich, became poor, in order that *ye* by *his* poverty might be enriched.”
Luke 4:16-20 “16 And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up; and he entered, according to his custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 And [the] book of the prophet Esaias was given to him; and having unrolled the book he found the place where it was written,18 [The] Spirit of [the] Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach glad tidings to [the] poor; he has sent me to preach to captives deliverance, and to [the] blind sight, to send forth [the] crushed delivered,
19 to preach [the] acceptable year of [the] Lord.20 And having rolled up the book, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.”
Titus 2:11-14 “11 For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared,12 teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,
13 awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.”
Luke 8:22 “22 And it came to pass on one of the days, that *he* entered into a ship, himself and his disciples; and he said to them, Let us pass over to the other side of the lake; and they set off from shore.”
Luke 8:35-39 “35 And they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, clothed and sensible, at the feet of Jesus. And they were afraid.36 And they also who had seen it told them how the possessed man had been healed.
37 And all the multitude of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were possessed with great fear; and *he*, entering into the ship, returned.
38 But the man out of whom the demons had gone besought him that he might be with him. But he sent him away, saying,39 Return to thine house and relate how great things God has done for thee. And he went away through the whole city, publishing how great things Jesus had done for him.”

“Vancouver, Vancouver, this is it!” — the final words of David Johnston as Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980. The rescue mission could not save him. But God’s rescue mission has succeeded. Through Jesus Christ, God has made a way of escape from the coming wrath. The question is: Will you respond while the rescue is available? This Is It. Jesus is calling. Will you come?
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
1 Thessalonians 1:10 “Jesus, our deliverer from the coming wrath.”
John 3:16 “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.”
Mark 10:46-51 “46 And they come to Jericho, and as he was going out from Jericho, and his disciples and a large crowd, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, the blind [man], sat by the wayside begging.47 And having heard that it was Jesus the Nazaraean, he began to cry out and to say, O Son of David, Jesus, have mercy on me.
48 And many rebuked him, that he might be silent; but he cried so much the more, Son of David, have mercy on me.49 And Jesus, standing still, desired him to be called. And they call the blind [man], saying to him, Be of good courage, rise up, he calls thee.50 And, throwing away his garment, he started up and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus answering says to him, What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And the blind [man] said to him, Rabboni, that I may see.52 And Jesus said to him, Go, thy faith has healed thee. And he saw immediately, and followed him in the way.”
John 21:22 “22 Jesus says to him, If I will that he abide until I come, what [is that] to thee? Follow thou me.”

How great is our God? His greatness is beyond our understanding, yet He has made Himself known through His love for us. “For God so loved the world” that He gave His only-begotten Son, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
In Him we live, move, and exist. Nothing is hidden from His eyes, and every heart and every life is fully known to Him. The greatness of God is seen not only in His power and majesty, but in the depth of His love and His desire to save.
A great God has made a great salvation available to us — through Jesus Christ.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
John 3:16-17 “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.17 For God has not sent his Son into the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him.”
Acts 17:28 “for in him we live and move and exist;”

When the Israelites were bitten by serpents, God told them to look and live. Jesus said the serpent lifted up in the wilderness pointed to Him. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, thus must the Son of man be lifted up.” — John 3:14 What are you looking at today or Who are you looking at today? —your problems, your failures, your fears, or your circumstances? Look to Jesus. He is the Saviour, He is our hope and He is the One who gives life.e32
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Numbers 21:4-9 “4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to go round the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became impatient on the way;5 and the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Why have ye brought us up out of Egypt that we should die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and no water, and our soul loathes this light bread.6 Then Jehovah sent fiery serpents among the people, which bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, in that we have spoken against Jehovah, and against thee: pray to Jehovah that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 And Jehovah said to Moses, Make thee a fiery [serpent], and set it upon a pole; and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, and looketh upon it, shall live.9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole; and it came to pass, if a serpent had bitten any man, and he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”
John 3:14-16 “14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, thus must the Son of man be lifted up,15 that every one who believes on him may [not perish, but] have life eternal.16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.”
Isaiah 45:21 ” And there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour, there is none besides me.”
Hebrews 12:1-2 “Let *us* also therefore, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, laying aside every weight, and sin which so easily entangles us, run with endurance the race that lies before us,2 looking stedfastly on Jesus the leader and completer of faith”

What does it truly mean to be righteous before God? Scripture shows us that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, and that our own righteousness can never make us right with Him. Yet God, in His mercy, has provided a righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
From the sinner who turns from his ways, to the humble tax-gatherer who cries, “O God, have compassion on me, the sinner,” we see that God is not seeking our self-righteousness, but a heart that turns to Him.
And as the river in Ezekiel’s vision flows deeper and deeper, bringing life wherever it goes, so the righteousness and grace of God bring forgiveness, transformation, and new life.
God’s righteousness is not something we can earn — it is something God freely gives through Christ.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Ezekiel 18:4 “4 Behold, all the souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
Ezekiel 18:21-23 “21 And the wicked, if he turn from all his sins which he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do judgment and justice, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.22 None of his transgressions which he hath committed shall be remembered against him; in his righteousness which he hath done shall he live.
23 Have I any pleasure at all in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord Jehovah; is it not in his turning from his way, that he may live?”
Luke 18:9-14 “9 And he spoke also to some, who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and made nothing of all the rest [of men], this parable:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-gatherer.11 The Pharisee, standing, prayed thus to himself: God, I thank thee that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer.
12 I fast twice in the week, I tithe everything I gain.
13 And the tax-gatherer, standing afar off, would not lift up even his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, have compassion on me, the sinner.14 I say unto you, This [man] went down to his house justified rather than that [other]. For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.”
Romans 3:21-24 “21 But now without law righteousness of God is manifested, borne witness to by the law and the prophets;22 righteousness of God by faith of Jesus Christ towards all, and upon all those who believe: for there is no difference;23 for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption which [is] in Christ Jesus;”
Ezekiel 47:1-5 “47 And he brought me back to the door of the house; and behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the front of the house was eastward. And the waters came down from under, from the right side of the house, south of the altar.2 And he brought me out by the way of the gate northward, and led me round outside unto the outer gate towards [the gate] that looketh eastward; and behold, waters ran out on the right side.
3 When the man went forth eastward, a line was in his hand; and he measured a thousand cubits, and he caused me to pass through the waters: the waters were to the ankles.4 And he measured a thousand [cubits], and caused me to pass through the waters: the waters were to the knees. And he measured a thousand and caused me to pass through: the waters were to the loins.
5 And he measured a thousand: it was a river that I could not pass through, for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed through.”
Ezekiel 47:9 “9 And it shall come to pass that every living thing which moveth, whithersoever the double river shall come, shall live. “
