Numbers 21:4-9 “4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to go round the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became impatient on the way;5 and the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Why have ye brought us up out of Egypt that we should die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and no water, and our soul loathes this light bread.6 Then Jehovah sent fiery serpents among the people, which bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, in that we have spoken against Jehovah, and against thee: pray to Jehovah that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.8 And Jehovah said to Moses, Make thee a fiery [serpent], and set it upon a pole; and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, and looketh upon it, shall live.
9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole; and it came to pass, if a serpent had bitten any man, and he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”
Luke 18:35-43 “35 And it came to pass when he came into the neighbourhood of Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the wayside begging.36 And when he heard the crowd passing, he inquired what this might be.
37 And they told him that Jesus the Nazaraean was passing by.
38 And he called out saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.39 And those [who were] going before rebuked him that he might be silent; but *he* cried out so much the more, Son of David, have mercy on me.
40 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be led to him. And when he drew nigh he asked him [saying],41 What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And he said, Lord, that I may see.42 And Jesus said to him, See: thy faith has healed thee.43 And immediately he saw, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people when they saw [it] gave praise to God.”
Luke 19:1-10 “19 And he entered and passed through Jericho.
2 And behold, [there was] a man by name called Zacchaeus, and he was chief tax-gatherer, and he was rich.3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was: and he could not for the crowd, because he was little in stature.4 And running on before, he got up into a sycamore that he might see him, for he was going to pass that [way].
5 And when he came up to the place, Jesus looked up and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for to-day I must remain in thy house.6 And he made haste and came down, and received him with joy.7 And all murmured when they saw [it], saying, He has turned in to lodge with a sinful man.8 But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I return [him] fourfold.9 And Jesus said to him, To-day salvation is come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham;10 for the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which is lost.”

33 “Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking from the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?”
34 “Or hath God essayed to go to take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched-out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that Jehovah your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?”

1 Kings 17:1 “And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As Jehovah the God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”
1 Kings 18:1 “And it came to pass after many days, that the word of Jehovah came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.”
1 Kings 18:17–40 “17 “And it came to pass when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?”
18 “And he said, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of Jehovah, and thou hast followed Baalim.”
19 “And now send, gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of Asherah four hundred, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”
20 So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.
21 And Elijah drew near to all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if Jehovah be God, follow him; but if Baal, follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
22 Then said Elijah to the people, I, I only, remain a prophet of Jehovah; but the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty men.
23 Let them give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under; and I will dress the other bullock, and put it on wood, and put no fire under.
24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of Jehovah; and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, The word is good.
25 And Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, Choose for yourselves one bullock, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.
26 And they took the bullock that was given them, and dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, answer us! But there was no voice, and none that answered. And they leaped upon the altar that had been made.
27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud; for he is a god; for he is meditating, or he is gone aside, or he is on a journey; perhaps he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with swords and spears, till the blood gushed out upon them.
29 And it came to pass, when midday was past, that they prophesied until the time of the offering up of the oblation; but there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
30 And Elijah said to all the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him; and he repaired the altar of Jehovah that was broken down.
31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of Jehovah came, saying, Israel shall be thy name.
32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of Jehovah; and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid it on the wood. And he said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt-offering, and on the wood.
34 And he said, Do it the second time; and they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time; and they did it the third time.
35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering up of the oblation, that Elijah the prophet drew near, and said, Jehovah, God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
37 Hear me, O Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that thou Jehovah art God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
38 Then the fire of Jehovah fell, and consumed the burnt-offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, Jehovah, he is God! Jehovah, he is God!
40 And Elijah said to them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.”

15 “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but upon the lamp-stand, and it shines for all who are in the house.”
16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.”

6 “There was a man sent from God, his name John.”
7 “He came for witness, that he might witness concerning the light, that all might believe through him.”

34 “But I do not receive witness from man, but I say this that ye might be saved.”
35 “He was the burning and shining lamp, and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.”
36 “But I have the witness greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has given me that I should complete them, the works themselves which I do, bear witness concerning me, that the Father has sent me.”
Hebrews 11:32
“And what more shall I say? for the time would fail me if I go on to tell of Gideon, and Barak, and Samson, and Jephthah, of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets;”
Hebrews 12:1
“Let us also therefore, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, lay aside every weight, and sin which so easily entangles us, and run with endurance the race that is set before us,”
1 Corinthians 3:6–10
6 “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God has given the increase.”
7 “So that neither the planter is anything, nor the waterer; but God who gives the increase.”
8 “But the planter and the waterer are one; but each shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.”
9 “For we are God’s fellow-workmen; ye are God’s husbandry, God’s building.”
10 “According to the grace of God which has been given to me, as a wise architect, I have laid the foundation, and another builds upon it. But let each see how he builds upon it.”

Every one of us has an eternal soul, yet life is uncertain and tomorrow is never promised. The rich man in Luke 12 planned for many years ahead, but God said, “This night thy soul shall be required of thee.” While this world is passing away, the Lord Jesus Christ remains the Same, and He still offers so great salvation to all who trust in Him. This message will consider the value of your soul, the certainty of eternity, and God’s gracious offer of salvation before it is forever too late.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Luke 12:16-21 “16 And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The land of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly.17 And he reasoned within himself saying, What shall I do? for I have not [a place] where I shall lay up my fruits.
18 And he said, This will I do: I will take away my granaries and build greater, and there I will lay up all my produce and my good things;19 and I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much good things laid by for many years; repose thyself, eat, drink, be merry.
20 But God said to him, Fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; and whose shall be what thou hast prepared?21 Thus is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
Psalms 102:23-26 “23 He weakened my strength in the way, he shortened my days.
24 I said, My God, take me not away in the midst of my days! … Thy years are from generation to generation.
25 Of old hast thou founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of thy hands:
26 *They* shall perish, but *thou* continuest; and all of them shall grow old as a garment: as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed.27 But thou art the Same, and thy years shall have no end.”
Hebrews 1:13-14 “13 But as to which of the angels said he ever, Sit at my right hand until I put thine enemies [as] footstool of thy feet?14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out for service on account of those who shall inherit salvation?”
Hebrews 2:1-4 “2 For this reason we should give heed more abundantly to the things [we have] heard, lest in any way we should slip away.
2 For if the word which was spoken by angels was firm, and every transgression and disobedience received just retribution,
3 how shall *we* escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation, which, having had its commencement in being spoken [of] by the Lord, has been confirmed to us by those who have heard;4 God bearing, besides, witness with [them] to [it], both by signs and wonders, and various acts of power, and distributions of [the] Holy Spirit, according to his will?”

John 18:1-9 “18 Jesus, having said these things, went out with his disciples beyond the torrent Cedron, where was a garden, into which he entered, he and his disciples.2 And Judas also, who delivered him up, knew the place, because Jesus was often there, in company with his disciples.
3 Judas therefore, having got the band, and officers of the chief priests and Pharisees, comes there with lanterns and torches and weapons.4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth and said to them, Whom seek ye?
5 They answered him, Jesus the Nazaraean. Jesus says to them, I am [he]. And Judas also, who delivered him up, stood with them.6 When therefore he said to them, I am [he], they went away backward and fell to the ground.7 He demanded of them therefore again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus the Nazaraean.
8 Jesus answered, I told you that I am [he]: if therefore ye seek me, let these go away;9 that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, [As to] those whom thou hast given me, I have not lost one of them.”
Luke 23:33-34 “33 And when they came to the place which is called Skull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, the other on the left.34 And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
Luke 24:50-53 “50 And he led them out as far as Bethany, and having lifted up his hands, he blessed them.51 And it came to pass as he was blessing them, he was separated from them and was carried up into heaven.52 And *they*, having done him homage, returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God.”

Genesis 12:1-3 “12 And Jehovah had said to Abram, Go out of thy land, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, to the land that I will shew thee.2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
Genesis 22:7-8 “7 And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, My father! And he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood; but where is the sheep for a burnt-offering?8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself with the sheep for a burnt-offering. And they went both of them together.”
Genesis 22:13- “13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind was a ram caught in the thicket by its horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt-offering instead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh; as it is said at the present day, On the mount of Jehovah will be provided.”
Exodus 3:1-6 “3 And Moses tended the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock behind the wilderness, and came to the mountain of God—to Horeb.2 And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a thorn-bush: and he looked, and behold, the thorn-bush burned with fire, and the thorn-bush was not being consumed.
3 And Moses said, Let me now turn aside and see this great sight, why the thorn-bush is not burnt.4 And Jehovah saw that he turned aside to see, and God called to him out of the midst of the thorn-bush and said, Moses, Moses! And he said, Here am I.5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: loose thy sandals from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.6 And he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look at God.”
Exodus 33:12-14 “12 And Moses said to Jehovah, Behold, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people; but thou dost not let me know whom thou wilt send with me; and thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in mine eyes.13 And now, if indeed I have found grace in thine eyes, make me now to know thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thine eyes; and consider that this nation is thy people!
14 And he said, My presence shall go, and I will give thee rest.”
1 Kings 17:1 “17 And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As Jehovah the God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”
1 Kings 19:8-13 “8 And he arose, and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God.9 And there he went into a cave, and lodged there. And behold, the word of Jehovah [came] to him, and he said to him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
10 And he said, I have been very jealous for Jehovah the God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I am left, I alone, and they seek my life, to take it away.
11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before Jehovah. And behold, Jehovah passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before Jehovah: Jehovah was not in the wind. And after the wind, an earthquake: Jehovah was not in the earthquake.
12 And after the earthquake, a fire: Jehovah was not in the fire. And after the fire, a soft gentle voice.13 And it came to pass, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave.”
Hebrews 6:13-20 “13 For God, having promised to Abraham, since he had no greater to swear by, swore by himself,14 saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee;15 and thus, having had long patience, he got the promise.
16 For men indeed swear by a greater, and with them the oath is a term to all dispute, as making matters sure.
17 Wherein God, willing to shew more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his purpose, intervened by an oath,18 that by two unchangeable things, in which [it was] impossible that God should lie, we might have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us,19 which we have as anchor of the soul, both secure and firm, and entering into that within the veil,
20 where Jesus is entered as forerunner for us, become for ever a high priest according to the order of Melchisedec.”
