  • Parental Guilt
Guilt is an emotion and should not be a life sentence. Guilt arises when an individual become aware of failing to be the best they could have been. Guilt can come or go. Guilt can also be debiliting resulting in depression, shame,  manipulation, or other inappropriate behaviors.
Have you ever questioned your parenting style or skills? Are you constantly being reminded by your children, family members or others about your parenting skills or lack there of. Later to start having the following run through your mind: My child went into the Child Welfare System. I wasn't there enough. I did not listen to my child. I was not affectionate enough. I went to jail. I left the other parent. I failed to protect my child. I was a single parent not by choice. I could not financially provide for my child.
If we continue to let those words ring in our head others will be able to control , abuse, extort us. Guilt can be a waring sign or a nudge in the right direction. However when guilty parents become stuck in their pain it could cause more problems for themselves, their children and the rest of their family. They will forever try to make their children happy as they suffer in pain and silence.
Join Dr. Lisa Romain and myself as we discuss this topic. Many parents are remaining silent yet acting and parenting out of guilt either knowingly or not. Let's break the silence and forgive ourselves. Let's discuss healthier ways to manage your guilt or shame. No parent is perfect. Children can learn from every experience in their lives even the mistakes of their parents. Some parents are overcompensating, driven to make their child have a pain free lifestyle or perhaps have been abandoned by their adult child. Let's discuss the challenges, frustrations of being a parent. Let's demonstrate compassion instead of guilt. Monday 5/15/17 live at 12:00 PM Pacific.

  • Stopping Elder Abuse
Whatever happen to respecting your elders? Or honor thy mother and father so that thy days will be longer here on earth. Mother's Day is approaching on May 14th. I myself lost my mother ReJean Brooks AKA Precious to breast cancer in 2008 before she could even become age 65 to be consider a Senior Citizen. I also have many friends that have also lost their parents and grandparents. There is a Silent Crime Against Seniors that is on the rise. Each year thousands of seniors 65 and older are abused, neglected and exploited. However few report it because they are afraid. Many seniors cannot take care of themselves. In most cases they rely on family, trusted friends and spouses to help meet their needs only to become abused byway of physical, psychological, emotional, financial, sexual, neglect, abandonment, self neglect, institutional abuse, and domestic violence.
The key to prevention and intervention is having the ability to recognize the warning signs and get some help.

Join me and my special guest Kim from Hannah's Children Homes and Dr. Lisa Romain as we discuss and educate individuals regarding Child Abuse which consist of physical, sexual, psychological, neglect, and emotional abuse.   The term child abuse and child maltreatment are often used interchangeably. However there is a distinction between them. Different states have different laws however the aftermath can last a very long time.
Did you know that every ten seconds a report is made about a child being abused? And about four children die every year as a result of abuse. It is also known that many children are being horribly mistreated every day by adults who are meant to love and care for them. With that being said the effects can last well into adulthood especially without intervention leading to depression, anxiety, disassociation, PTSD, eating disorders, addiction, suicidial thoughts, personality or attachment disorders.
The show is not designed to make parents feel bad. The goal is to teach individuals how to recognize the signs and symptoms, provide information regarding the courts, social services responsibilities, court referred programs and community resources.

Information is constantly surfacing in the news regarding inappropriate behaviors. A statement was made regarding how sex and the silence of the church is crippling God's People.
