Abdominal muscle separation is something most pregnant women will experience. Despite being such a common problem, with the potential to cause such a world of pain, many mums aren’t equipped to minimize and manage recovery.
In this solo episode, I am diving into abdominal recovery after birth. I go through abdominal muscle separation and what you can do to manage it. I share how to build up your abdominal strength after birth whether you’ve had a vaginal or caesarean birth. I draw on my personal experience and my professional experience helping clients to manage their abdominal muscle separation.

I have the pleasure of chatting to Gemma today as part of the Spilling the Milk series. She is a FitNest Mama member and a mum of three adorable young kids under 5.
She shares her story about first becoming pregnant at the age of 26, her labour journeys, the postpartum recoveries she has gone through after each pregnancy, her experience healing from a painful tear during labour, and life with three children.
Gemma listened to the modules in Fitnest Mama regarding calm births and they enabled her to feel so much more empowered during the labour process. She gives us relaxation strategies that worked so well for her during her labour and is an absolute wealth of first hand information that I know you will really benefit from.
I’m sure you will enjoy this episode.

Today I am very excited to be chatting about all things food and pregnancy with accredited dietitian, Kaylee Slater. Kaylee works at the Dietologist in Sydney and has a passion to help women before, during and after pregnancy.
We are chatting about which foods to avoid in pregnancy, foods that help you with your first trimester, morning sickness, and foods that help with your baby’s development. We will include simple ways to include these nutrients in your busy life without lots of preplanning.
What you are eating during pregnancy can impact your child’s future risk of common lifestyle conditions including; asthma, allergies, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
I am so grateful to have Kaylee on the show today. She is such a knowledgeable guest and is also pursuing a PhD investigating the impact that diet and lifestyle changes can have on preventing heart disease amongst women that have high blood pressure and preeclampsia in pregnancy.
Enjoy!

Today, I share with you some really useful, practical inside tips to help you look at the controllable factors for reducing the aches and pains that contribute to waddling in your pregnancy.
I am so excited for you to check it out. I am here to help you in your pregnancy journey.

Breastfeeding can be so difficult and painful and doesn’t always come naturally. My next guest has gone through the horrendous pain of mastitis to create her own innovative solution to support her in her breastfeeding journey. She has developed this idea into a business that is helping mothers to breast or bottle feed their baby in comfort.
Amanda Rowe is a mum of three and the founder of the ‘Feeding Friend’. The ‘Feeding Friend’ is a feeding pillow that provides breastfeeding or bottle feeding arm support.
It is not a typical nursing pillow. Amanda’s mission is to help mums create a connection and bond by aiding them to hold their baby and take all of the pressure off the loading arm to help mum’s posture, self-care, comfort and letdown during feeding.
I am so grateful to hear and discuss Amanda’s journey and the challenges she went through while breastfeeding and the motherhood experience.
To celebrate my 50th podcast episode we are doing a giveaway! If you would like to go into the draw to win your very own Feeding Friend AND 3 months membership to FitNest Mama, click here! Hurry, entries close on the 7th of September at midnight!

We spend nine long months growing a baby, then life with a newborn takes over and we forget about our own personal recovery in the sleep deprivation and mayhem.
In this episode, I discuss with you how to boost your recovery in the first few weeks after giving birth so that when you are all consumed with your newborn, you will remember to prioritise it.
It is essential that you acknowledge the amazing journey that your body has been through and allow it time and space to recover and begin to heal.
I know that everything has stretched! Remember that time is the most significant factor required to knit your fascia and connective tissue back together.
I will share with you easy and practical methods to incorporate into your day to allow for your body to rest and recover from birth in the first few weeks.

I am thrilled to talk with midwife and childbirth educator Aoife Kenny regarding optimal fetal positioning. Aoife is the founder of Back to Birth, which is a rapidly growing educational platform that has been designed to prepare and support expecting parents through pregnancy, labour and parenthood. The position of the baby in the later stage of pregnancy is very important in labour and Aoife is here to discuss all of your concerns.
Have you felt confused by the terms anterior and posterior? How we sit, how we move, how we use our bodies especially in the third trimester of pregnancy can affect the position of the baby in the womb. The baby’s journey through the pelvis is complex and there are a multitude of factors that affect this process.
In the last few weeks of pregnancy we hope that the baby is finding their way into the pelvis in an optimal position in order to be delivered. Aoife will discuss the specific posturing, movements, birthing aids and exercises that women can perform to encourage the baby into this optimal cephalic position.
