  • 5 Considerations For Exercising During Pregnancy

    Send us Fan Mail

As a mum of 3 and physiotherapist working in women’s health, I understand that growing and birthing babies is a beautiful yet sometimes overwhelming experience.  During pregnancy and beyond, we undergo numerous changes and many women experience aches and pains they didn’t have before.

In this episode, I share my top 5 tips on things to consider when approaching exercise during pregnancy.  From tiredness to morning sickness, back pain and swelling, it can be more challenging to exercise while growing a baby.  I share some practical ways you can approach exercise in the best and safest way possible.

I discuss an overview of pelvic floor and abdominal exercises, tips on lifting, managing the demands of a toddler while pregnant and recommendations on the types of exercises to pursue.  If you have any specific questions regarding this topic or anything to do with pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period, please drop me a line.  It’s my joy to help mothers experience a happy and healthy pregnancy.

  • 4 Tips For Preparing To Breastfeed While Pregnant with Susie Prout

    Send us Fan Mail

Are you pregnant and perhaps a bit unsure about breastfeeding? You might be wondering whether there is anything that you can do to potentially help prepare for breastfeeding while still pregnant. Alternatively, perhaps you're a second time pregnant mother, who didn’t have an amazing experience with breastfeeding the first time around, and you want to set yourself up for the best chance of success for your second bub.

Today I’m joined by Susie Prout. Susie is a registered midwife and international board-certified lactation consultant based in Perth. She's also a Mum of three young children. Susie helps new mums learn how to breastfeed and also helps with any problems that come up along the way. She believes breastfeeding education needs to be relatable and realistic for the modern mum as there are so many demands on us and it can all feel very overwhelming. Susie is also the host of the podcast - Australian Breastfeeding Podcast.

In this episode, we discuss the benefits of education and getting informed while pregnant, as opposed to waiting until your bubba has arrived. We discuss support networks and establishing the village around you to help you feel supported in your breastfeeding journey.

Susie talks to us about milk supply, how it is established and maintained and discusses what supply and demand really means. We also discuss the many options that are available for breast pumps and when to purchase one.

  • Would You Know What to do if Your Little One Was Choking with Nikki Jarcutz

    Send us Fan Mail

There is so much knowledge available to us regarding pregnancy and babies that it can be overwhelming to sift through all the information.  Although many things can be learned along the way, there are benefits to having some basic awareness and knowledge to help reduce anxiety and overwhelm during those early years.

Today I’m joined by Nikki Jurcutz, mama of two, former paramedic and co-founder of Tiny Hearts Education, a training organisation providing essential birth and first aid education to parents across Australia.  Alongside her sister, Rach, Nikki’s work with Tiny Hearts helps empower mums and dads to face parenting without fear.

In this episode, Nikki and I discuss the benefits of baby first aid, safe sleeping and guidelines for the prevention of SIDS.  Nikki also highlights the main things to be aware of when starting solids and what to look out for with regards to allergies and rashes.

Becoming a parent can be daunting and overwhelming but equipping yourself with the right information will help you feel supported and empowered for the amazing journey ahead.
