EPISODE DETAILS
Growing up outside Detroit, sports were Darrian’s focus - until he encountered God at a party in the middle of fleeing drug charges in Chicago.
Darrian left the corporate world to serve full-time for The Call in Detroit in 2010 - “the #1 murder zipcode in the nation”. They prayed from 12am-4am, and he had other teams praying from 12pm-4pm, sleeping on air mattresses in an old school during their breaks. This was during a 40 day fast, by the way! This event was what really marked his life and changed his direction.
At a speaking engagement in Virginia, Darrian had an encounter with a man who came up during the meeting and said that the Lord wanted to know, “where is your watch?” but neither of them knew what that meant.
At an event with Lou Engle 6 months later, a different man came up to him and told him that he had been disobedient at first, but that God wanted him to give Darrian his watch. He said “the Lord wants me to tell you - you’re going to know what time it is!” At that moment, the other man who had the word about the watch 6 months earlier walked by and got to witness the moment!
The brand of watch was Bulova - whose owner, Joseph Bulova was from Bohemian Czechoslovakia, where the Moravians had met together 300 years earlier!
Through some research, they learned that Bulova only made little watches, and felt God saying that their focus was the “little watches”. They also learned that Bulova watches had the most accurate time keeping technology in their heyday, which everyone set their clocks by. Their slogan was “America runs on Bulova time”, and they felt impressed that God wanted to make the Night Watch a household fixture that people could set their clocks by.
Darrian feels like Bulova’s marketing campaign (saying that whoever flew from New York to Paris would win $1000 - which Charles Lindbergh eventually won!) speaks to the prayer movement in 2020. When Darrian’s crew flew into St. Louis for a prayer meeting last year, they flew into Lindbergh Airport and met at Lindbergh Ave - a real “God-wink”. The ability to connect the “little watches” in a Moravian-like movement is more available now than ever with our video technology - Darrian considers their Night Watch ministry (going on 7 years now!) a new expression of the old Moravian Watch that covers a wider geographical distance.
In episode 22 we welcome back Jonathan Tremaine Thomas to the podcast. This episode is full of insights on topics such as racism, justice, righteousness and prayer.
As the founder of Civil Righteousness, JT shares about the foundation of God’s throne being both justice and righteousness. The focus on either righteousness or justice is a major source of divisiveness between political “right” and “left.” The Bible teaches us that both internal and external transformation are needed.
JT urges worshipers and intercessors to consider the call to humility and justice – not just hosting God’s presence in prayer meetings but in our relationships to one another, especially those different than we are. We as the body of Christ must recognize our cultural differences without letting them become division in the Church. Ultimately, Jonathan reminds us that “Hunger for God trumps cultural expression and preference.”
Key Scripture: Amos 5:23-24, Luke 18:7-8, Isaiah 58, Micah 6:8, Zephaniah 3:10, Revelation 5:9

In this episode Matthew Lilley interviews, Jonathan Tremaine Thomas, the founder of Civil Righteousness. JT shares of his journey that began in college when God told him that he would be used to "love the guns out of their hands."
In 2014, God led his family to Ferguson, Missouri following the shooting of Michael Brown and into the resulting rioting that broke out throughout the city. A day & night worship & prayer tent was established in the midst of the crisis, and God began to move supernaturally!
"When crisis comes on a land that brings repentance, the glory of God has come on the land... we pray for a great awakening not realizing that the awakening has come in the form of a rude awakening."
God invited their intercession in into the midst of the brokenness of the world to carry God's presence and become the answers to our prayers. He calls this proximate intercession.

During a recent ministry trip, Matthew Lilley received an entire sermon from the Holy Spirit during the musical worship of a service - right before he had to stand up to teach! The teaching has been titled "Cast Down Your Crowns", and he shares an abbreviated version of that sermon on this episode.
There is a pattern seen in the life of David, in the heavenly throne room and in the life of Jesus where priestly activity precedes the kingly activity. David danced "undignified" before the Lord, the elders of heaven "cast down their crowns" and Jesus "emptied himself" to come to earth. Likewise, God invites us to cast down our pride, humbly depend on God and humbly worship God with freedom and intimacy.

In episode 16 Matthew Lilley interviews Jonathan Friz, the founder of an initiative called 10 Days, which is mobilizing cities to shut down for united prayer and worship during the Days of Awe. You will hear Jonathan share (amusing, at times) stories of struggles & burnout in his spiritual life and ministry, but you will also hear amazing testimonies of salvation, healing, miracles, revival and unity as God works through the Ten Days of prayer movement in recent years.
"I knew that if I sought Him because I loved Him, then all the other things I wanted to see, in terms of revival, would come as well." - Jonathan Friz
Whether you are wanting to grow in prayer and faith in your personal life, or whether you are a leader desiring to see greater prayer and unity, you will find great encouragement, laughter and wisdom from Jonathan's insights and stories.

In episode 15, Matthew Lilley teaches about what it means to be “undignified” like King David – free from fear of man and able to do whatever God tells you to do. David’s wild worship and obedience costs him the reproach of those who mocked him, including his own wife. Yet David lived His life “before the Lord” not before man. Jesus lived the same way during his time on the earth by focusing primarily on pleasing the Father rather than those around Him.
