Each life...each man has a story to tell. There is something we can learn from each and every one of the disciples. And the theme that we are wrapping around this "series within a series" is - "Why Believe? Because Your Life Is Made to Count!" The “claim of all claims” is that Jesus did not stay in that grave…but rather according to Scripture on the third day, He rose from the grave…championing sin…death…hell and the grave…once and for all! He is our risen Savior!

Jesus says, “The Sabbath is about me! I’m the fulfillment of it. And if you want to honor the Sabbath, you will begin by honoring me. If you want rest, you will get it by coming to me!" Christ wants you to have rest so bad. He wants you to know this rest so much that He climbed on a colt…rode into Jerusalem…and knowing that he would be betrayed, beaten, and brutally put to death…he went to the cross and suffered humiliation and shame so that you could enter His Sabbath rest once and for all. Do you know Christ today? Not rules…not regulations…are you following Him in a relationship?

What is Jesus saying in Luke 5? Bottom line: “I’m breaking preconceived notions! You don’t get to God by obeying the law. You get to God by following me! No more trying to patch up your old way of life. I’m providing you something entirely new. Its never been done before! It’s me!" And what Jesus is asking of you is the exact same thing He asked of Levi many years ago. “Follow me.” Have you made that decision?

Luke 5:11 – “And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.” Prestonwood…let’s launch into the deep…let’s cast our nets…and let's see God give us the catch of a lifetime for His glory…it is THE only way to live...fully devoted and surrendered to our Great God. Do you know Him today?

Did you catch that? Preaching the good news…”it's WHY I have come!” Does God want to set you free? Does God want to heal? Does God want to restore and remove scales from eyes? Absolutely…but in a much deeper way than a physical sense. In a spiritual sense, this is what Jesus did when He died on a cross for our sins. THE GOSPEL.

Jesus is the perfect case study in saying ‘no’ to temptation and to Satan. He is our ultimate example on fighting and winning the battle for our purity and our integrity. It’s not just important that we know the word, we MUST apply it to our lives!

Jesus was the spotless Lamb...the Lamb without blemish. In this passage of Luke, we simply see the grace of God in that Jesus is once again identifying with those He came to save!
