On September 21, 2013, at approximately 7:35 p.m. police officers in Newark New Jersey responded to a disturbance at the corner of Salem Street and South Orange Avenue. When they arrived officers found 21 year old Najee Montague lying on the ground outside of a bodega. He had been shot seven times. Dawan Ingram was identified by a witness as the shooter, he was convicted and sentenced to 50 years in the New Jersey department of corrections, this is Dewan's story told in his own words.

Luis Miguel Salinas was arrested for attempted murder in 2005 by Rampart division officers in Los Angeles, notorious for their involvement in the Rampart scandal. He went to trial twice, resulting in a hung jury and then a conviction, and was sentenced to 44 years to life in prison.
