  • Polarean Imaging chief business officer on potential of Xenon MRI pharma trials
Polarean Imaging PLC chief business officer Alex Dusek talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s latest expansion into pharmaceutical-sponsored trials. This new initiative involves a multinational trial utilising Polarean’s Xenon MRI technology to assist drug development for lung diseases.
Dusek explained that traditional lung function tests, such as spirometry, are crude and highly variable, making trials costly and time-consuming. Xenon MRI offers a more sensitive measurement, reducing variability and allowing drug companies to conduct trials with significantly fewer patients. "If you're designing a trial, let's say it's 25 to 50 patients with Xenon, that would take you 250 to 500 patients with the more traditional measures," he noted.
Polarean is providing pharmaceutical companies with imaging biomarkers and harmonised data analysis, streamlining drug development. The company is also establishing a network of clinical sites equipped with Xenon MRI, creating an ecosystem that benefits sponsors, trial sites, and Polarean itself.
Dusek highlighted Polarean’s partnership with VIDA Diagnostics, a well-known name in lung drug development, to further enhance the impact of this initiative.

  • North Bay CEO on second gold shipment & bullish outlook as gold holds above $3,000
North Bay Resources Inc CEO Jared Lazerson talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s ongoing progress at its Bishop Gold Mill and broader operational strategy. Lazerson confirmed the second shipment of gold concentrate has been completed, marking continued momentum. He noted, “Optimization of the gravity circuit is pretty much done,” and explained that recent bottlenecks around water are being resolved through the installation of a recirculation pump.
North Bay Resources is now focused on two key next steps: increasing throughput and bringing the flotation circuit online. The latter is expected to raise recoveries by at least 30%, with potential to double them. Lazerson said, “There’s a lot of fines in the mix... flotation circuit coming online... is the next big push.”
With thousands of tonnes already stockpiled and near-surface extraction plans targeting 10,000 tonnes, the company is positioning for consistent production. Lazerson emphasized the importance of shipping logistics and noted the competitive cost structure despite the haul from British Columbia to the California mill.
He also outlined a strategic shift away from exploration, stating, “We really have a clear path to cash flow... we really want to be known now as a producer and development company.”
North Bay Resources continues to prioritize near-term production and economic efficiency as gold prices remain strong.

  • Sona Nanotech CMO discusses THT's potential to enhance immunotherapy efficacy
Sona Nanotech Inc chief medical officer Dr Carman Giacomantonio takes Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the company’s latest findings related to its targeted hyperthermia therapy (THT), which he described as showing “very enabling immunogenic” effects in recent experiments.
The THT platform works by delivering controlled heat to the core of a tumour, triggering a natural cell death response and activating the body's immune system. Giacomantonio explained that this process exposes tumour proteins to immune cells, increasing the chance that they will be recognised and attacked. He noted that “all cancer cells have this kind of evolutionary quality” of resisting cell death, but THT stresses the cells enough to induce it.
These latest experiments build on data first shared in December, with increased sample sizes confirming the reproducibility of the results. According to Giacomantonio, tumours treated with saline or checkpoint inhibitors alone continued to grow, while those exposed to THT and the immune modulator PD1 showed complete inhibition or reduction in growth.
Looking ahead, he said the company plans to expand testing to demonstrate systemic immune responses, with the goal of treating metastatic cancers by targeting a single tumour site.

  • Acuity Risk Management CEO on cybersecurity, partnerships & growth
Acuity RM Group Plc (AIM:ACRM) CEO David Rajakovich talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's role in the cyber GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) space. Unlike traditional cybersecurity providers, Acuity focuses on real-time risk assessment through its flagship product, STREAM. Rajakovich explained that STREAM functions as a command centre, integrating external data sources to offer a comprehensive view of an organisation's security posture.
Rajakovich, who recently took over as CEO, shared his background in scaling businesses, particularly his experience at Skill Dynamics. He highlighted Acuity’s strong presence in government and defence, as well as its growing footprint in financial services and highly regulated industries like pharmaceuticals.
The discussion also covered Acuity’s recent acquisition of Rizikon from Crossword Cybersecurity. Rajakovich emphasised that the acquisition was driven by the opportunity to expand Acuity’s customer base, rather than the software itself. Many Rizikon customers are now transitioning to STREAM, benefiting from its broader capabilities.
Looking ahead, Rajakovich hinted at upcoming partnerships, particularly within the government and defence sectors. He also outlined Acuity’s two-pronged growth strategy: expanding its mid-market reach through product-led growth and leveraging strategic partnerships to access customers earlier in their cybersecurity journey.
With a refined go-to-market strategy and a focus on scalability, Acuity Risk Management is positioning itself for significant growth in the coming years.

HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd executive chairman Frank Holmes talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnioin about the company’s ambitious expansion plans, particularly in Paraguay. Holmes highlighted that HIVE is set to increase its revenue from approximately $120 million to nearly $500 million, representing a fourfold growth.
A key factor in this expansion is the company's strategic presence in Paraguay, where it is leveraging the country’s abundant hydroelectric power to support its green energy commitments. Holmes introduced Gabriel Lamas, an electrical engineer specializing in high-voltage infrastructure, who will lead HIVE’s operations in Paraguay. He emphasized that Lamas' expertise will be instrumental in developing the necessary infrastructure, including substations and transformers, to support HIVE’s data centers.

  • Plexus Holdings CEO on £3m fundraise & growth strategy
Plexus Holdings PLC (AIM:POS) CEO Craig Hendrie talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's strategic growth and recent £3 million fund raise. Hendrie, who took on the CEO role in July 2024, explained how Plexus is expanding its wellhead rental business to capitalise on strong demand. The investment will double the company’s rental fleet from 8 to 16 systems, enhancing its ability to generate recurring revenue.

  • AuKing Mining’s Orion deal: near-term gold production
AuKing Mining Ltd managing director Paul Williams talked with Kerry Stevenson at Proactive about the company's recent agreement with Orion Resources, focusing on gold assets in the Cloncurry region of Queensland.
Williams highlighted that AuKing initially acquired a 15% stake in Orion Resources and has now secured approval to increase its ownership to 50% by investing $5 million by June 30, 2027. The acquisition aims to leverage existing infrastructure and near-term production opportunities, with operations potentially commencing within the next 6 to 12 months.
"We’re incredibly pleased to be involved in this project," Williams stated. He noted that the deal consolidates key gold assets under one corporate entity for the first time, eliminating previous ownership complexities. Additionally, AuKing recently engaged with the owner of the historic Tick Hill gold mine, which could present another avenue for near-term gold production.
The Cloncurry project includes a permitted processing plant at Lorena and several historical mining leases, which, according to Williams, provide a strong foundation for development. The company has also strengthened its leadership team, with key appointments including mining engineer Mark Fisher, geologist Dr. Kylie Prendergast, and finance executive Nick Harding.
With gold prices remaining strong, AuKing sees significant potential in these assets and is focused on delivering shareholder value through strategic acquisitions and operational development.

Foresight Solar Fund Ltd fund manager Ross Driver takes Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the company's full-year results and its strong portfolio performance despite record-low irradiation levels in the UK. Driver highlighted that Foresight Solar generated over 1,000 gigawatt hours of renewable energy—enough to power approximately 370,000 UK homes.
He also discussed the company’s stable dividend policy, with an 8p per share dividend for 2024 and a planned increase to 8.1p per share in 2025. Foresight Solar’s active hedging strategy and capital allocation approach have supported steady shareholder returns, with £67 million returned to investors through dividends and buybacks.
Driver reaffirmed the company’s focus on capital efficiency, debt reduction, and strategic growth through its proprietary development pipeline. The company recently doubled its Spanish development pipeline to 400MW of battery storage, which he described as a key step in future value creation.
Regarding market challenges, Driver acknowledged high interest rates and sector outflows but emphasised the long-term strength of renewables, supported by government policies in the UK and Europe. "We remain confident in the portfolio's quality and our income and growth strategy to drive total shareholder returns," he stated.
