  • Gold Market Insights with CEO Frank Holmes: Chinese New Year Boost and Economic Uncertainties Ahead
U.S. Global Investors CEO Frank Holmes joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the impact of recent USD GDP numbers on the gold market and provide insights into the factors influencing gold's performance.
Holmes highlighted the importance of the "love trade" in the gold market, where approximately 60% of gold demand is linked to cultural affinity, particularly ahead of the Chinese New Year when gold is traditionally purchased as gifts.
In the United States, gold is influenced by the "fear trade," which is driven by concerns about interest rates. Despite stronger-than-expected GDP numbers, Holmes emphasized the negative yield on five-year government bonds, which makes gold and high-quality gold stocks, especially royalty companies, more attractive investment options.
Looking ahead to the Federal Reserve's meeting on January 30-31, Holmes anticipates the potential for sideways movement in interest rates. He expressed concerns about the global economy based on the PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) index, suggesting that investors remain cautious.
Holmes advised investors to allocate approximately 10% of their portfolio to gold, highlighting its historical outperformance compared to the S&P 500. He recommended a "buy the dip and hold on" strategy, emphasizing that gold can serve as a resilient asset class, particularly in the context of ongoing economic uncertainties and monetary policies.
Overall, Holmes provided valuable insights into the role of gold as a store of value and a hedge against economic and geopolitical risks, making it an essential component of diversified portfolios.

  • Tonix Pharmaceuticals releases more data from second positive Phase 3 clinical trial of TNX-102 SL
Tonix Pharmaceuticals CEO Dr. Seth Lederman joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share additional safety and tolerability data from RESILIENT, the second positive Phase 3 study evaluating TNX-102 SL for the management of fibromyalgia.
Dr. Lederman reported that the results from the study showed that TNX-102 SL treatment was not associated with increases in systolic or diastolic blood pressure or body weight. Additionally, there were no reported sexual side effects. In fact, when systematically investigated using the Changes in Sexual Functioning Questionnaire short form, women who received the study drug had a higher CSFQ-14 score compared to those who received a placebo, indicating improved sexual function.
These findings are significant for fibromyalgia patients who require long-term therapies, particularly since weight gain is associated with gabapentinoids, negative sexual side effects are linked to serotonin-reuptake inhibiting medications, and increased blood pressure is a concern with potent noradrenergic-reuptake inhibiting medications.
Dr. Lederman highlighted that Tonix Pharmaceuticals' work in this field may present an opportunity to launch the first FDA-approved drug for fibromyalgia in more than a decade. This news underscores the potential for TNX-102 SL to offer improved treatment options and quality of life for individuals suffering from fibromyalgia, a condition with limited therapeutic choices.

  • Sky Metals Reports Strong Tin and Tungsten Findings, Expands Resource, and highlights 2024 plans
Sky Metals CEO Oliver Davies joined Steve Darling from Proactive to provide an update regarding drilling activities at the Narriah Project, as well as other significant developments for the company.
Sky Metals has completed six diamond drill holes at the Narriah Project, with a total depth of 498.05 meters. These drill holes were aimed at exploring for tin and tungsten beneath several historic mine workings in the area. Davies revealed that all six holes in the maiden program intercepted strong tin and tungsten mineralization. These results confirm the potential for the Erigolia Granite, which stretches over 16 kilometers, to host economically viable tin and tungsten mineralization. The company plans to use these initial results to target new areas for large-scale tin mineralization that have not been explored previously due to a thin layer of sand covering most of the underlying rocks in the project area. Additionally, Sky Metals is planning geophysical surveys to penetrate the sand cover and accurately delineate geological features for targeting.
Davies also shared that the company has released an updated JORC-2012 Mineral Resource Estimate, on Tallenbung –which demonstrates a 53% increase in total tonnes compared to the maiden MRE, along with a significant increase in the Exploration Target. The Indicated and Inferred Resources in the MRE total 15.6 million tonnes at 0.15% tin, representing 23.2 kilotons of contained tin at a 0.08% tin cut-off grade.
Looking ahead to 2024, Sky Metals plans to focus on developing the Taliban project, leveraging updated mineral resource estimates and successful ore sorting results. The company aims to not only achieve economic efficiency but also prioritize environmental sustainability, aiming to be a leader in producing ethically sourced and reliable tin for the global market.
