Jack's thoughts on Facebook's rebrand to Meta. Meta is now the parent company to Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. This rebrand has seemingly had negative press from the consumer end. Also, coming soon after multiple legal battles over privacy concerns with the US government. What are your thoughts? Does this rebrand make you forget about bad PR?
I truly don't think anyone else wants to see Wilmington's entrepreneurship scene grow more than Jim. Jim is constantly connecting entrepreneurs in the area, chatting with VCs for helpful content, arranging events, and sharing articles. He's doing so much for the city of Wilmington that he has even created his own business to help cities develop their entrepreneurial ecosystems. As someone who seems to have a pulse on everything business, this conversation should be nothing short of intriguing.

We originally wanted to do this podcast before the grand opening of Common Desk - Wilmington, NC, but here we are. We get to chat with fellow UNCW Alum, Alaethea Hankins about her transition from marketing, and working in startups, to now working as VP of Ops for Common Desk, a larger company. She gives us key insight into what Common Desk does, small business culture, and what graduating college students should look for when searching for a job.
Quick and to the point. Paul Szurek, CEO of CoreSite and I discuss operations for a company, cloud systems, data management, and position development. Growing up around business for most of his life, Paul has learned from positions in business law, and as a CFO to now be a CEO. Paul states that being a CEO isn't all what it's cracked up to be, but also offers great tips for those who aspire to become CEO one day.
Lydia and I went to UNCW together. We were in similar classes as I was studying Marketing - Strategy, and she was studying Marketing - Professional Selling. Post grad Lydia had mentioned working for a student housing community, but had always aspired to be in real estate. Now that she is a realtor, she can speak on the process of getting started, and growing.

This episode is honestly all over the place. I've been on a bit of a hiatus when scheduling guests. This episode is a business update for my company, Socialry Marketing. It's incredibly tough for me to show struggle. These past couple of months have been tough, but luckily i've on-boarded a few clients and things are looking up. In this episode I also clue yall in into some other entrepreneurial endeavors including an online ordering directory, and a co-working / content house for young entrepreneurs.
2020 Coastal Entrepreneur Award Winner, Daniel Summer and I discuss his business, Electronic Lab Logs. Electronic Lab Logs, Inc provides a cloud-based software platform that allows Hospital and other Private Laboratories to track required instrument maintenance tasks as required by CLIA and other governing bodies. Honestly, I'm not educated enough on the subject of healthcare, or cloud based healthcare systems for that matter. So the listeners and I will be both learning during this podcast.
During Covid the sport of video games flourished, E-Sports. Competitive Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Fortnite, and League of Legends are just scratching the surface of what is out there. From private competitions, to collegiate teams, and Worldwide events, there is a sport, and a captive audience to watch. With the increase in competitive sports also came an increase in content creators. People who enjoy playing video games are now "streamers," and can make a full-time salary by playing. In this podcast we will dive deep into the business of e-sports, how people get paid, what's out there, and the future of the sport.
