Not all medical imaging modalities use ionising radiation, some use the tools of vibration.
Take medical ultrasound for example, still lets us see right through our patients, however, rather than using the X-Ray section of the electromagnetic spectrum, ultrasound uses a probe (transducer) to emit sound waves at various frequencies to be able to distinguish between different tissues within the body. Ultrasound, like many other imaging modalities, can be used in a wide variety of clinical applications to demonstrate pathology or visualise anatomy. Let's probe Gina to find out more!
