In this hour of "Generation Progress Takeover", Brent Cohen, executive director of Generation Progress from the Center For American Progress in Washington, D.C. tackles the controversial issue of gay conversion therapy.
To help him untangle its complications are two experts on the field, and activists against the harmful practice, including Logan S. Casey, Policy Researcher for Movement Advancement Project, and Sam Brinton, Head of Advocacy and Government Affairs, The Trevor Project.
Both groups fight for LGBTQ issues, and lobby lawmakers in all 50 states to abolish conversion therapy programs for all people, for good.
Progress is slow, however. While several states have made strides to prohibit conversion therapy practices for minors, the damaging pseudoscience is still granted religious protections under the first amendment in some parts of the United States.
Brent, Sam, and Logan address this issue from all sides, and encourage outreach and help in the fight to ban this practice for good.
