project 224

On this weeks episode we finally breakdown the enneagram.  While the enneagram is mostly seen as just another personality test it has roots in gnostic and occultish beliefs that other personality tests do not have.  We talk about the dangers of the enneagram and how it can be misused and abused in the Church.  We also talk about personality tests in general being used to figure out who we are when our identity is found in Christ.  In the end we want the Bible to guide our life and not a personality test, especially one rooted in beliefs antithetical to God.

On this episode we take a deeper dive into the world of mental health.  We answer the question about the role of medication in mental health.  We look at the uses and limits of medication which will never treat your Spiritual condition.  We affirm the sufficiency of the Bible for life and Godliness and yet we also see the reality of the effects of depravity of the physical brain.  So how do we see the immaterial soul/spirit and physical brain interacting to contribute to mental health?  How do we show grace while not giving and excuse for sin?Come in and find out.

In this episode we go through question 4 in a Baptist Catechism and discover what the Word of God is.  We look at the inerrancy and infallibility of the Word of God, discover what verbal plenary means in its transmission and look and its sufficiency.  We also talk about the dangers of claiming extra biblical revelation either through the cults or through simple things like Jesus talking.

We are back after an extended break.  This week we discuss the recent heart beat bills that have been signed in several states outlawing abortions after a heartbeat is detected, or about 6 weeks.  We discuss what the Bible has to say about abortion and answers to common objections.  We look to see how the Gospel answers abortion by putting us under the Lordship of Christ, offering forgiveness of sins including abortions, and hope for the future for both the aborted babies and their mothers.

On this episode we answer a listeners question.  We take on the controversial subject of depression and anxiety.  We try to nuance the definitions in a Biblical way that is helpful and offer advice on how to deal with anxiety and depression.  You may think you have heard this stuff before but we bet you that this will both surprise and encourage you.

This week we continue our study of a Baptist Catechism.  This week is Question 3- How Do We Know There Is A God. We discover the different ways that God has revealed Himself to everyone and different historical proofs of God.  We show how no proof will be sufficient for an unrepentant heart and thus the most important way to know Him is through the faith and knowledge given to us by the Holy Spirit and the revealed Scriptures.

On this episode we use the conversation that was had at The Shepherd's Conference 2019 as a spring board to start the conversation about how we as Christians need to start talking about race.  One good way to start the conversation is to read through the Statement on Social Justice and The Gospel and start to research the issues that are being discussed.  Our first goal must also be to please God and not worry about the negative consequences that could arise from speaking about these issues amongst others in the church.  This is just the beginning of hopefully many profitable episodes in the future.

This week we discuss the Christian use of social media.. but hold on.. we want you to dominate in your use of social media for the glory of God.  Social media is a newer platform compared to other media (though Paul clearly has no concept of when other media existed) therefore the church is still figuring out how to best use social media for God's glory.  Paul and Heyward share some thoughts on how to effectively use social media for the glory of God.

On this episode we are joined by a special guest and photographer Kaitlyn McKinley of The Golden Kate Co.  We discuss how God has created beauty and the ability for us to appreciate beauty therefore God defines beauty.  Since God is truth then beauty is defined as that which God finds beautiful and that which glorifies Him.  Therefore not all art is beautiful and we as Christians need to learn to see art as God would and to find beautiful only those things God would find beautiful. We also get into how Kaitlyn finds beauty in the world through her lens and how that links to the Gospel.  Finally Kaitlyn gives some advice for beginning photographers.  Check out our episode and be sure to visit Kaitlyn's photography here or visit her on Facebook
