After losing his mother to pancreatic cancer in 2011 as well as several other people he was close to, Gord Townley began his mission to help fight for a cure. That’s when he combined his passion for cycling with his goal of helping to improve pancreatic cancer survival rates to form 7 Days in May - a charity ride that circumnavigates all of Lake Ontario in 7 days.
After raising approximately $20,000 Canadian in its first year, the event has grown to raise approximately $1.4 million Canadian all-time, becoming one of Pancreatic Cancer Canada’s largest independent fundraising groups.
On this week's episode, Gord and Project Purple Founder & CEO Dino Verrelli discuss the story of “7 Days in May” and share a little bit about what it’s like to run an endurance-sports-focused pancreatic cancer charity.
