This episode is the first of a few episodes where Jim and Lauren deep dive into resume advice. Lauren recently gave a resume talk to postdocs and grad students at Harvard Medical School and one of the postdocs was kind enough to transcribe many questions that came up during the presentation. In this episode, Jim Gould and Lauren Celano build upon episode 8 which focused on the importance of involvement in professional associations to talk about how to highlight these types of activities and other leadership and soft skills in your resume. These tips also apply generally to highlight aspects of your background as you engage with others. We both feel strongly that it is very important, especially for scientists, to highlight technical skills as well as various soft skills to show well rounded scientific citizenship.
