Psalm 16 is a psalm of David. It begins with the words "Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge." In this psalm, David expresses his trust in God and his reliance on God for protection and guidance. He declares that God is his "portion" and his "cup," and that he will not be swayed by the enticements of wicked people.

David also speaks of the blessings that come from following God, including being surrounded by God's presence, experiencing God's goodness, and being given a share in God's inheritance.

The psalm concludes with a prayer for protection and a declaration of faith in God's goodness and faithfulness.

There are several lessons that can be learned from Psalm 16:

1. Trust in God: David declares that he trusts in God and takes refuge in Him. This can be a lesson for us to put our trust in God, especially in times of difficulty or uncertainty.
2. Rely on God for guidance: David speaks of seeking God's counsel and relying on His guidance. We can also seek God's direction and follow His leading in our lives.
3. Follow God: David speaks of the blessings that come from following God and living a life pleasing to Him. This can be a lesson for us to strive to live in obedience to God and His Word.
4. Trust in God's goodness and faithfulness: David declares his confidence in God's goodness and faithfulness. We can also trust in God's goodness and know that He is faithful to His promises.
5. Pray for protection: David ends the psalm with a prayer for protection. We can also pray for God's protection and seek His help in times of need.
