Thankfulness to God should constantly be on the lips of those whom he has saved.

 

The first line in this psalm is:

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;

   his love endures forever.

 

To endure means to suffer patiently.

That tells me that God is suffering right next to me.

No matter what happens, God’s love for me will stay strong.

Let’s make sure our love for him stays strong too.

The first line in this psalm is this:

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;

There is no one who does good.

 

To be vile means extremely unpleasant.

To sin means an immoral act.

 

As christians we have the understanding that we are sinners.

We have to openly admit that we are not perfect.

And we accept that Christ has died on the cross for us.

We cannot get to God, the Father, till we accept Christ, the Son,

As our savior.

Sometimes we just have to pray for the bad people in our lives.

I know it’s hard to do.

We have this jerk that’s just going out of the way to cause problems.

We can fight them all we want,

God will judge the evildoer.

Our anger must not block our confidence in God’s ability to defeat evil.

 

That can be really hard to do at times.

Especially when you have someone that goes so far out of their way to cause trouble for you.

 

A bully at work,

A bad neighbor,

Someone that mocks your relationship with God.

 

We will encounter all of these things at some point.

Let’s not let our anger get to the best of us.

Let’s not think of ways to get even or get back at them.

Let’s remember that God will bring us justice.

 

Let’s pray that God will show our enemies love and anger.

Bringing them not only to justice but also to Christ.
