There’s an 1980’s song by the Jefferson Starship (formerly the Jefferson Airplane) called “We Built This City on Rock’n’Roll” and it’s about the ground-floor peeps of San Francisco’s 1960’s psychedelic revolution who literally did just that: built 1960’s San Francisco on Rock’n’Roll (fueled by LSD); and Rainbow Valentine’s mom was at the center of that inner circle; doing things like making bling for the Jefferson Airplane’s drummer, tripping with the Merry Pranksters and engineering for first rock radio station in the country, KMPX. In this episode, RV’s mom gets into the mid 1960’s, sharing true stories about actors in the Committee Comedy Troupe falling off cliffs, boating in Mexico with Neal Cassady, chauffeuring Mimi Farina, singing with Joan Baez, designing jewelry for Salvador Dali, gardening with Grace Marchand, working with rock radio pioneers, Raechel and Tom Donahue, the Grateful Dead, Dizzy Gillespie and the continuing saga of her marriage to future-TV star, Howard Hesseman plus much more.
