NEWS:

• HBO renews "Westworld" but we have to wait until 2018 to get it
• "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee" has been renewed for another season and her show will move to Wednesday nights
• Syfy is developing Robert Heinlein's sci-fi classic novel "Stranger in a Strange Land" to series
• Marvel announced their new ABC series: "Inhumans"
• Strong rumor has Disney eyeing Netflix as their next acquisition
• HBO is still pushing for a "Game of Thrones" prequel series that would be based on the story bible GRRM created -- which contains thousands of pages, apparently -- for his original series of books.
• A "Saved by the Bell" producer finally revealed that Jesse Spano was originally addicted to speed… not caffeine pills. S&P at NBC vetoed that notion as speed was too dark an option for a Saturday morning show.
• According to a CBS executive named Jim Lanzone, their new "Star Trek" series wouldn't work on broadcast TV, saying: "Sci-fi is not something that has traditionally done really well on broadcast. It's not impossible, for the future, if somebody figures it out. But historically, a show like "Star Trek" wouldn't necessarily be a broadcast show, at this point."

• Dave Chappelle will host "SNL" this Saturday with musical guests A TRIBE CALLED QUEST.
• CBS has greenlit a prequel series to "The Big Bang Theory," which will tell Sheldon's origin story
• ABC has canceled "Conviction."
• Christopher Lloyd has signed on to cameo on an episode of "The Big Bang Theory" later this year. The show's executive producers say he'll be playing "a fun part that fans will really enjoy."
• USA has picked up the true crime series "Unsolved," which will explore the murder investigations of Tupac and Notorious BIG.
• HBO has a documentary on Slender Man coming. It's called "Beware the Slender Man" and it's set to hit the channel on January 23, 2017
• Comcast cable is about to start offering Netflix in its new X1 TV boxes… So, there you go grandma!

It's a little over a week until Halloween and, well, we're celebrating it all month long. Unfortunately, we will not have another new episode before the big day hits so, please check all your apples for razor blades! • While shooting Season 7, "The Walking Dead" had body doubles on set to throw off rumors of who Negan killed.
• AMC pulls a no brainer and renews "The Walking Dead" for an 8th season.
• FX has renewed "American Crime Story" for a third season, before the second season (about Hurricane Katrina) has even started shooting. The 3rd season will be about Gianni Versace's murder.
• Netflix's "The Get Down" cost roughly $16 million to produce each episode of Season 1.
• CBS has canceled "BrainDead" but it ordered full seasons of "MacGyver," "Bull" and "Kevin Can Wait."
• CBS is making Candy Crush Saga into a real live game show
• Terry Crews will host a week-long Christmas special event for The CW called "Terry Crews Saves Christmas" starting Dec. 20 and ending with a 2 hour finale event on Dec. 23
• For a very brief moment, the creators of "Westworld" were planning a "Game of Thrones" crossover by making a Westeros-themed Medieval World. It didn't happen.

It's officially spooky month and with it, DJ Spook Nasty and MC Tummy Troubles have returned for the fourth time. For your die hard Pass the Effin' Remote fans, you know what we're talking about. There's a lot to unpack in this episode, which is why it ended up going over 2 hours again. That's what we get when all the TV shows return at once!

• "Westworld" was HBO's highest rated premiere since the premiere of the first "True Detective," bringing in 3.3 million viewers.
• HBO is in early talks to possibly develop "Watchmen" TV series.
• FX has renewed "American Horror Story" for a 7th season.
• A TV series spinoff of "The Purge" is in the works.
• The horror streaming service Shudder now has every episode of "Tales From the Darkside."
• Chris Columbus is developing a new Alfred Hitchcock anthology series for Universal Cable Productions called "Welcome to Hitchcock." It will reportedly be "an inspired take" on Hitchcock's "unique brand of storytelling," and it will feature one Hitchcock-esque "season-long mystery or crime" every year.
• Patrick Warburton will appear in some capacity on Amazon's "The Tick."
• "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will premiere to Netflix on Friday, January 13th.
• "Iron Fist" is set to premiere on Netflix in March, 2017.
• NBC has canceled "Aquarius" after two seasons.
• NBC canceled its new mail order bride themed sitcom 72 hours after it first announced it. It was to be written and produced by Jackie Clarke, who works on Superstore, and be inspired by her own life growing up with her dad purchasing a Filipina mail order bride soon after her mother died.

Welp, the Emmys are now behind us and we go over some of the biggest surprises from Sunday's ceremony. After running down some of the big wins, obviously, we have some news to discuss ...

"Vikings" Season 4 returns to HISTORY on Wednesday, November 30. A "Dark Tower" TV series is still in the works with Idris Elba attached. "Parts Unknown" is back this Sunday with Anthony Bourdain hanging out with Barack Obama. Most of the "West Wing" cast are campaigning for Hillary Clinton in Ohio next week. ABC is developing a "Magnum P.I." spinoff that would follow his daughter's adventures. Jon Benet Ramsey's family is suing CBS over the recent Jon Benet docu-series. "South Park" is still made in the most ridiculous way and they almost missed their Season 20 premiere due to a technical error. Billy Eichner is coming to NBC's "Hairspray Live." And Margot Robbie will kick off "SNL's" 42 Season.

"Stranger Things" has finally gotten the green light for Season 2. Greg Nicotero may have spoiled who Negan kills in the Season 7 premiere. Is it Glenn and Maggie? "Star Trek: Discovery" will come with novel and comic book tie-ins. Stephen Amell just may compete in "American Ninja Warrior." FOX and Greg Berlanti are bringing "Black Lightning" to TV. Netflix has upped their geek cred with "Bill Nye Saves the World," "The White Rabbit Project" and the return of "MST3K." There's a "sexy, contemporary" series based on "Oliver Twist" coming to NBC because, sure. Dick Wolf is getting in the boy band game with Zayn Malick with the new series, "Boys." And Matthew McConaughey has gone full McConaughey in the new Wild Turkey commercial.

It's Friday so that means there's a 50/50 shot that a new Punch Drunk TV is ready for your listening pleasure. And you're in luck as this is the right Friday for you! Jack and Aaron talk about their trip to last weekend's Power Morphicon and, interestingly enough, virtual reality comes up a lot in this episode. Get ready to be jacked in!

Hulu is adapting Marvel's "Runaways" to a series with "Gossip Girl" creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage behind the project. Here's hoping it's good because all of CWs shows will be leaving Hulu soon as their streaming deal has ended. Netflix will have the new episodes for each CW show available 8 days after their respective season finales end. Welp, there's always CWTV.com ...

Speaking of The CW, we discuss the pending "Supergirl"/"The Flash" musical crossover and the rumor that Joss Whedon may direct the two episodes. Also, the network canned their "Friday the 13th" series as the idea wasn't "sustainable." Fear not genre fans, a new "Lost Boys" series is in the works from Rob Thomas -- the creator of "Veronica Mars" and "iZombie."

Also, "The Nightly Show" was canceled, because of course it was. At least we can celebrate Brendan Dassey's release from prison ... right?

It's Cash Cab meets Carpool Karaoke. MTV is rebranding VH1 Classic and plans to bring back episodes of Daria, Beavis & Butthead and Aeon Flux. NBC's making two Cruel Intentions pilots -- one will be sexier and available only on streaming
