He specializes in wild insects of Chotanagpur plateau .  He has profiled around 1200 insects during 20 years of his explorations. He entered Limca book of records in 2016 for discovering 500 years old, largest ant hill of India. He has also received several awards and honours for his exemplary work in the field of environment.    The uniqueness of Mirtyunjay’s work lies in his unrequited love for the species. He goes to wild everyday to find newer insects but never takes an insect away from its natural habitat.
