Purple Reign

While my fellow Purple Trio members prat about with Noughties classics I get to know the general manager of the Vancouver Goldeneyes a little better as she met the press for the very first time ahead of the upcoming season

With the World Chamoionships fast approaching Canada had done the unthinkable and finally given its program a much needed youth injection with several well loved veterans getting the axeWe had been screaming for the past 12 months to see our arch-rivals make much needed changes but we didn't think they'd actually go and do it

It's great to see the excitment about conferences is reaching fever pitch but one GM has dared to throw down the gauntlet as Boston's threw shade at us despite no longer being close to one anotherNot a wise move Fleet Crew especially as a reminder in the 2024 Walter Cup Finals it was Minnesota who came out on top

When the expansion teams were being announced back in May there was a lot of fears that with more nhl venues becoming primary venues that we would see double headers across the two leaguesSo far however there are currently only three on the cards but that could change depending on where we go for the Takeover Tour and secondary venues in market

Captain Clutch has spent her offseason in recovery from surgery following her injury last season and its clear she's itching to get back out onto the ice for the Victoire and there are both sides to the argument on when she should come back

The NHL got off to a bad start when Jack Hughes got himself into some very hot water duing an interview and I for one have learnt from my mistakes in February and so this time I don't hide away and call it out for what it is

The final leg of the 2026/27 Women's Euro Hockey Tour takes place next week in a city that I for the life of me can not pronounce despite having watched Melodifestivalen since the year I graduated high schoolAnyways Lady and me take a look at who needs to make the most of this final test before we meet for Worlds in Denmark

The road to Denmark continues with our team previews as this time its Team Japan

We feel that the Japanese are on the brink of collapse as their performance in Italy was crap and if they don't bring their fight in November they could well and truly be on their way out and relegated

PWHL Detroit made a statement reminding everyone that they mean business and are here to win as they hired a hockey hall of famer and a former stanley cup champion as their assistant coaches which even has me shaking in my boots

Its been hanging over the Goldeneyes heads all offseason but we now know that Claire Thompson has retired from hockey at a very young age to pursue a medical careerShe will be a huge loss to both the league and our sport as a whole but at least she can say she got to live two dream careers whereas many of us barely get the oppertunity to live one
