Purple Reign

The World Championships are now only weeks away as the team who's made the most noise just made another bold move by hiring the Toronto Sceptres general manager at the helm of Austria's national teamNow while Gina does have the experience from her time with Canada I'm just not sure its the right move especially as the Sceptres are going to need all the help they can get going into Season 4

On October 10 my San Jose Sharks hosted a theme night dedicated to PWHL Sab Jose and I don't think in all my 17 years I've ever heard The Tank louder as Laila Edwards came out to drop the puckHowever while it was a good idea I felt the execution of the night was a half hearted gesture and I feel that the Sharks could have done a lot more especially what we're seeing right now with Bay FC & the Valykries

The league has revealed its branding for the inaugural All Star Game in Toronto and while I love it and think it could be something that could be used for future All Star games my fellow Purple Trio members think its lacking any identity to the Toronto Sceptres

In the run up to the announcement of the All Star Game in Toronto the league phrased it as something monumental for women's game as a whole but on further inspection and all star game certainly isn't new especially for women's hockey itself

I was mighty impressed with Andrea Brandli was impressed in Milano-Cortina and couldn't be more happy to see her enter the league this season as PWHL Detroit have well and truly found their starting netminder

The countdown to Denmark continues with our team previews as this time its Team Sweden

In previous years the Swedes have dominated the group stages but never been able to make an impact in the Knockouts but that might change following their performance in Italy

The New York Sirens remain the only Inaugural Six team that has yet to qualify for the Walter Cup Playoffs and they'll be even more determined to change thatEach year they draft the pieces needed but they never quite fit together but they'll need to rely on their stars more than ever as their tight knit family was torn apart over the summer

The Sceptres are in a bit of an identity crisis right now especially as they lost so much starpower over the offseason through both expansion and free agency which begs the question is the pressure now firmly on long time Scpetres player Natalie Spooner

On paper the Goldeneyes last year should have been Walter Cup contenders and yet they failed to meet those high expectations and once again they find themselves favourites after a very excellent offseasonAs far as I'm concerned their still my picks to be the next team to join the Frost and Victoire as Walter Cup champions

Like last year the expansion teams have received their jerseys before their brandings but at least this time that was made clearer in advance and I didn't have a serious illnessThe Purple Trio take you back to my school days as we use 2010s GCSE grades for Detroit, Las Vegas, Hamilton and San Jose with some very interesting results
