Purpose in the Youth

In May of 2017 Indy signed a deal with Sony Music and with the advance he was given the ability to put all of his creative energy into being a recording artist. Now living in West Hollywood, CA he is happy that he gets to wake up everyday doing what he loves. He grew up in the same house all of his life in Howell, NJ with his mother working in the school system that he went to, his father a police officer and an older brother. Hockey was a huge part of his life and taught him you need a team in order to succeed no matter what you do in life. Through his music he’s learned how to express his emotions in a very raw way as he continues to tell his story. After his best friend broke his neck playing hockey and was paralyzed from the neck down during his senior year of high school, his record “Miracle” took off and all proceeds continue to go towards his foundation. 2018 he hopes to continue to grow his music and slowly build a strong catalogue of records that show what he’s capable of creating. He just flew back from a twenty-four hour trip to NYC with recording artist 24hrs where he was documenting their entire stay in the city. Now back in Los Angeles, couchsurfing at the Content Crib he’s embracing the moment as things are starting to fall into place. SusboyDarius is only twenty years old, loves taking photos, creating cover art for artists projects and is now starting to mess around with video. Born and raised in Springfield, MA he grew up in the nice part of town as the city has a variety of “mini cities” within it some of which are beautiful and peaceful whereas the other parts tend to have a high crime rate. Family has always been very important to him in his life and his parents have always been able to provide him his basic necessities. In school he was always the quiet one that minded his own business but it allowed him to learn as he listened more than he talked. When his grandmother passed away he locked himself in his room for months and cut off a lot of people in his life. It was his first experience with losing a loved one and the process he went through taught him a lot about himself and ultimately led him to his passion of photography. He was nowhere close to being good at first but surrounding himself with people that had similar interests he slowly got better with time. After 1.5 years of community college he tossed the towel in and is trying to chase his passion while in LA. In this episode he discusses how he got his name SusboyDarius, how creating t-shirts led to his relationship with 24hrs, being part of the RAGE movement and wanting to inspire others, why you need to fail in order to find what you’re looking for, why his necklace says “Revenge” on it, wanting to have coffee with Wiz Khalifa and what most people don’t know about him. One of the main takeaways from this episode is to keep going and prove the people that doubted you wrong. Scoobs is the creative director at Indie-Pop and he provides creative services outside of the music industry under his brand, Scoobs Supply. Some of his work in recent years include Super Duper KYLE, G-Eazy, Carnage and more. At first he was scared to admit his passion for art but he quickly realized that people didn’t care as much as he thought and so he learned to just be himself. Born and raised in the small town of Manistee, Michigan his graduating class was only 100 people. Most would stick around, work at the local factory and spend the rest of their lives there but Scoobs wanted more. Having his supportive mother teach him that you can accomplish anything you put your mind towards as long as you were willing to work for it stuck with him. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to do but knew it had to be something creative and kept jumping on any/all opportunities. Through Twitter is was able to connect and build with people over the internet. He took the initiative to show people what he was capable of doing and it only opened up more doors for him. At one point he flew out to Los Angeles and was sleeping on a floor for two weeks. He saw the long play of what he was doing and knew he had to put in the work. After getting a taste of what LA had to offer, he graduated college and moved West knowing that it was the place he needed to be. In this episode Scoobs discusses how at some point someone will toss you the ball you just need to be ready to catch it & run with it, why design & creative direction is important today, one of the most emotional projects he’s worked on in the past, beating cancer and how he plans to incorporate this experience for 2018 and wanting to help people while doing what he loves. One of the big takeaways from this episode is to be happy & have more genuine interactions with people. We can eat healthy and exercise daily but even then our health isn’t in our control. In February of 2017 Daia had $1,200 to her name, no plan at all and bought a one way ticket to London not sure where the road would take her. What she didn’t realize at the time was that she was walking into a ten month adventure where should would visit 18 countries like Iceland, Indonesia, France, Italy and more all along the way capturing her journey via blog, videos or pictures on her Instagram. Just a year before she was living her life in Las Vegas working and once she got a taste of traveling she walked away from everything to see what the world had to offer. She grew up in Los Angeles until she was 7 and then went to high school in Las Vegas. Her father was never around so her mother stepped up to the plate and was always hustling to make ends meet. When Daia wasn’t working 60 hours a week during her senior year she enjoyed dance and cheerleading. Although people around her were pressuring her to go to college she didn’t and instead followed what she thought was best for her. At one point Daia had a car, full-time job, apartment and all the material items she could ever want but all it took was a four week trip to London that changed everything. Having withdrawals from being abroad she sold everything she owned. Instead of spending her money on things that added 0 value to her life she began putting her dollars towards equipment that helped build her business or saved it to put it towards traveling. In this episode Daia discusses the social skills she mastered from working retail, learning everything that she knows today from YouTube, how she was able to continue to travel after spending all of her money in the first two months, leveraging her Instagram following to get free accommodations at hotels & restaurants, believing in yourself is the biggest lesson she’s learned while traveling abroad, the first step to take if someone is looking to travel, there is no such thing as overnight success, why she stopped blaming other people for how she was feeling and knowing that every person had to start somewhere to get to where they’re today. One of the big takeaways from this episode is that not having a plan isn’t always a bad thing. While interning Joshua got a taste of the corporate world and realized it wasn’t for him. He had spent a month in both Moscow and Tokyo, a little bit of time in Israel and seeing how people lived in different parts of the world as well as how they interacted with one another changed his perspective. He realized that with the short amount of time we do have we must find something we love to do and thus how he stumbled into acting. Chicago, IL was where he was raised. A city full of people that were down to earth, very organized and filled with excellent food. He had some family issues that impacted him heavily early on and it was tough for him to make friends but as time went he grew more confident in himself. After spending sometime at Parkland Community College, he dropped out at 22 to bet on professional football and traded stocks. It got so intense that he moved to Las Vegas for six months with one of his friends. After getting his feet wet with acting in Chicago he took his talents out to Los Angeles and attended Stella Adler Academy of Acting. In order to become one of the greats one must be willing to get back up millions of times even after falling on your face. Being vulnerable, open, studying the script, fully submerging yourself into the role, taking what you’ve learned and making it yours all needs to happen before the cameras start rolling. At 27 years young, Joshua is a humble, hungry and is doing whatever it takes to make it in the industry. In this episode Joshua discusses valeting cars was one of his favorite jobs as a kid, two roles in his acting career that have impacted him the most, we all have different paths in life so things will happen when they happen, the law of attraction, traveling and observing everything around you, why we should put ourselves in uncomfortable situations, being honest with people, wanting to add more structure to his life, you’re in complete control of how you react to situations it’s all about perspective and the only person you’re fighting is the one you see in the mirror. One of the main takeaways from this episode is that it’s you versus you. Look at yourself ask what do I really want to do, who do I want to become, where do I see myself tomorrow, next month, next year or even in a decade. The role of a music producer is to make the music behind the artist. Not only does Andrew produce but he’s also an artist and audio engineer. Some of his production credits include Kevin Gates, Tory Lanez, Pnb Meen & more. If he had the chance to work with any producer today it would be Pharrell. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA he spent some of his early life on a Navy base and went to a catholic school. When he was in 4th grade his father passed away from lung cancer and so his mother was left caring for him, his older brother and younger sister. What he didn’t realize at the time was that over the years of watching his mother struggle to deal with his father’s passing would later teach him a lesson that no matter what happens in your life you can overcome any situation. Music played an important role in his life early on. He enjoyed dance and tried tap, jazz and ballet. When he was able to pick up an instrument for the first time his teacher recommended he get private lessons because of how natural it was for him to play. Even with a full ride to Millersville College he turned it down. As time went he would become a classically trained cellist, jazz pianist, learned how to play the keys and guitar, toured with punk bands on Vans Warped Tour and enjoyed rap music. Today he lives full time off of his passion. In this episode Andrew discusses how he gets ready for the day ahead of him, being self-motivated and keeping track of what needs to get done, the hardest part about following a passion, a 45 min lecture he world teach the world based his journey thus far, wanting to become a more opened minded person, being nominated for the 2017 Philly Hip Hop Awards and how changing from a pessimistic to an optimistic person has helped him. One of the main takeaways from this episode is that meditating builds confidence. Jordan first appeared on the podcast for Episode 25 (2/22/17) where he talked about growing up in Indiana, dropping out of college to chase his passion and learning that people are always watching you even when you least expect it. Today he is the photo/video guy for Machine Gun Kelly. It’s safe to say a lot has changed in nine months. Wozy was first introduced to MGK back in May 17’ when he had an opportunity to work for him down in San Diego for a radio show after his recent album ‘Bloom’ dropped. He clicked well with him, the entire rest of the crew and he had proven that he could deliver the content that they needed. Next thing you know, he does a couple festival shows in the U.S. before he is flown to Europe with the gang and hasn’t stopped working with them ever since. What has changed the most about him is he’s a lot harder on himself than ever before. He spends more time on his work and analyzes every aspect of it before he shares it. His creativity has been pushed now that he’s in bigger environment but he loves what he does. Although he might be looking at everything through his camera lense, he’s capturing timeless moments that he will always be able to look back on. In this episode Wozy discusses what it was like creating KellyVision Season 7, the 27 World Tour, seeing Linkin Park live before the passing of Chester Bennington, establishing his own style of work using yellow font, there is no such thing as a failure if you can learn something from it, how social media allows us to connect with people, a music video shot by him that is coming out soon and what the day-to-day life looks like on the road for him. One of the big takeaways from this episode is making something out of nothing. Episode 62: Rome Green Jr is one of five members in Dormtainment, a comedy collective group. He’s not just a comedian but an actor, writer, spiritual and energetic person living in Los Angeles. He recognizes the position he’s in and is extremely grateful for it as well as the fans who’ve supported him and the group over the years. In Rome’s eyes being raised as a military child has worked out in his favor. Born in Heidelberg, Germany he spent two years there before moving to Massachusetts, then Panama and finally settling in North Carolina. Instead of being raised in one environment he had the chance to experience different cultures and it changed his perspective of the world. It was the first day of college at the Art Institute of Atlanta when the Dormtainment crew first met. After failing with party promoting Rome and one of the guys made a video of them clowning around, uploaded to Facebook and saw tons of feedback so they kept going with it. Even with their original YouTube channel getting deleted after two years of work, hundreds of videos, tens of thousands of subscribers, they looked at the setback from a positive lense as an opportunity to rebrand and came back even stronger. As of today they have over 1 Million subscribers, their own podcast ‘Comedy Trap House’ and recently had YouTube Red pick up their new show “Snap!”. Episode 61: Ryan grew up in Ashburn, Virginia surrounded by a younger brother and older sister. When he was eight years old he dreamed of hopefully one day becoming a movie director. During his senior year of high school he was getting looks from different colleges that were interested in recruiting him. He quit to follow his new passion for making music. Both his coaches and parents questioned his decision but he knew what he wanted and refused to stop for anyone. Through his four years at Radford University he was able to really jump start his music career. Any free time that he had he spent writing, recording and mastering his craft. His remix for “Drinking About You” had gotten him tons of exposure and he ran with it. By the time he graduated he was able to live full-time off his earnings from his music. Ryan recently surpassed 200k monthly listeners on his Spotify channel but for him the passion is more than just numbers. Music has served as an outlet for him to inspire people to do whatever it is they want to do and he continues to push this message to the fans. Although his music may touch some serious subjects, he is a very outgoing and approachable person that wants to connect with people. Episode 60: Nathan Achron first appeared on the podcast for Episode 2 where he discussed his childhood, executing a one-month pop-up shop and some of his early ventures in fashion. In the spring of 2017 he graduated from FIT in New York City and moved back to his hometown Chicopee, MA where he runs his own personal studio operating two businesses. First being Chicopee Clothing Company which has the ability to manufacture almost any piece of clothing (jean jackets, pants, sweatshirts, bags, sweat pants, coats, hats etc) for clients. Secondly being Notion where he designs, cuts and sews his own clothes. Recently he launched a YouTube channel under his name to give value to people who’re interested in learning the craft and hopes that it shows people the first step to getting to where he is today is starting. Nathan also hosts free classes at his studio space from time to time because he enjoys teaching people who’re interested in learning the craft. The end goal - to have the biggest factory in the world producing every piece of streetwear clothing in the industry.
