In today’s episode we are finally getting into the meat of 1 Corinthians, those specific sins we mentioned we would get to earlier in this series, well it’s time to dig into our first one. We’ll be the first to tell you these topics aren’t always easy but they must be taught and talked about.

This first sin is on purity and a specific sexual sin that was going on within the church. We discuss how the church was instructed to handle this situation and what our take is of rebuke within the church.

We also discuss how sin is correlated to leaven in this text and how you’re better off to throw out the old leaven and start again with a new lump. As only a little leaven or yeast is needed to make bread rise, a little bit of sin can consume your whole congregation.

This passage of scripture takes sin very seriously and concludes with specific instructions on what we must do if a fellow believer in Christ is wrapped up in sin. Have you ever heard of being “churched” doesn’t happen much these days but was often a term used in days prior to handle someone that was deep in sin within the church.

We are continuing our study in 1 Corinthians finishing up chapter 3 today and moving into chapter 4. We will be discussing how our bodies are the temple where the Lord dwells and what a great responsibility that is.

We will also discuss in chapter 4 how Paul was living for an audience of “One” not caring what the world thought about him. He was often seen as a servant to the gospel and he spent his life in servitude to the Lord.

How different would our lives be if we were working only for that audience of “one” ? Only caring about what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ thinks. At the end of the day that’s all that will matter. We should not be striving for earthly gain and earthly rewards but should be working toward heavenly rewards that will never fade away.

Things are a little different on today’s episode. One of our beloved co-host’s has been under the weather so reinforcements were called in to record this episode for you today. We’re happy to have Ashlee’s husband Aaron and their friend Donnie on this week’s podcast.

If you listened to the episode from last week we made mention of Donnie and how the Lord worked through our friends Haley & Bryan with the sharing of their testimony to touch Donnie’s heart and that’s what helped lead him to the altar the other Sunday where he surrendered his life to Christ.

We are excited for you to get to know Donnie a little better but more importantly we were excited to give him the chance to be bold in his faith and publicly share his testimony.

If you remember our challenge from the other week it was to be bold in our faith that we would share our testimonies with others and that’s just what Donnie did in the studio with us.

We hope you enjoy this episode that it brings some laughter and some comfort to know that even in the storms our Lord is still working it all out for your good!

Today we are continuing our study in 1 Corinthians looking at chapter 3.  We discuss the difference between being a babe in Christ still on the milk but how we’re supposed to get off the milk and onto the meat of scripture.  This was one of the things Paul was addressing when he wrote this letter.  He told the church at Corinth that for the 18 months I was there with you, you came to know Christ, you were babes in Christ but I’ve been gone for a while and I should be hearing that you are a thriving church but you’re still acting like babes in Christ.  Why is this?  Because they were having petty arguments within the church that was driving them apart.  Hmmm doesn’t that sound so familiar in today’s New Testament churches?  

We discuss how everyone in the church plays a vital role.  Some plant and some water but it’s ultimately God that gives the increase but if you’re too busy fighting within the church then you’re not focused on planting or watering.  We are all part of the Big “C” - Church that is.  One may share the gospel, another may come along and share some verses and over time a lost person may soften to the gospel but we have to all be obedient to what the Lord has called us to do.

We discuss the testimony of how a new friend came into our lives through the podcast and how a family friend ended up coming to know Christ because of their obedience to the Lord.  We can’t make this stuff up, it’s not just a coincidence and we’ve seen first hand over the last couple months how when you don’t think God is moving he is always working behind the scenes.

Last week we discussed the difference between spiritual wisdom and divine wisdom and how non-believers can think what we believe is foolish.  This week we are going to be looking at what true wisdom is and how powerful it can be.

So often we have access to the wisdom of God, we’re just not doing our part to utilize what HAS been given to us “freely” by the Spirit of God and that requires us to study, pray, attend church and hear sermons so that we can obtain knowledge and put that knowledge into action through wisdom.

Happy New Year everybody!  We are excited to begin a new year with you all and look forward to what 2024 has in store.

Today we are going to begin a new series around our theme for this new year which is Focus More in 2024.

Over the next few weeks we are going to be diving deep into 1 Corinthians and studying everything from unity in the church to women's roles within the church and everything in between.  Our goal is to grow spiritually more than we ever have in this coming year.

We begin today studying 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verses 1-9.  In these verses Paul is writing a letter to the church in Corinth to tell them to grow up, come together and to unify around the word of God.

It’s so important for us as Christians to examine ourselves and how we can grow in Christ but also to examine our conduct within the church.  Are we honoring God in every aspect of our lives, not just in word?  Are we allowing petty things to come between us and our brothers and sisters in Christ?  These are all things we want to consider as we begin this new study.

We look at other churches in the book of Revelation that are struggling with a lot of the same things our churches are struggling with today.
