This is the very last episode of the Pursuing HER Purpose podcast. And as always, we’re here to talk about how we came to this very difficult decision. We hope you leave this episode with understanding and inspiration as you go forth in your entrepreneurial journey.
We share what it ultimately came down to when the three of us decided to shut this business down. The conversation wasn’t easy and we all took a weekend to really think things over before having a more formal heart-to-heart.
When it comes to closing a business there are certain nuts and bolts that take time to work out. We talk about who we needed to inform first and why it was important for us to let those individuals know. It is important to all three of us that we fulfill all the outstanding promises we’ve made and want you to know that if you are a student of ours, you will continue to have lifetime access to any of our courses you may have purchased.
A sincere thank you goes out to each and every one of you who have ever downloaded an episode, supported us, and cheered for us along the way. All of us are so glad this business happened and we are all better business owners because of it. We are cheering for you whether it’s time for you to make a push, a pivot, a pause, or otherwise in your business. There is so much ahead for each and every one you!

If you’re listening in real time, it’s the week of Memorial Day and we know a lot of you are busy. But we wanted to bring back this “Greatest Hits” episode with our dear friends Vanessa and Xander Marin. They way they talk about big breaks and if they actually happen or if it’s a series of small breaks that leads you to growing your business is refreshing. The two of them are married and they go into what it’s like to run a business with a partner and how to keep that relationship healthy while doing so.
Vanessa is a psychotherapist that specializes in sex therapy. Xander is a regular dude that has been married to a sex therapist for over 10 years. After a few years owning her business- they decided that Xander would help her! He started behind the scenes, but now is a full fledged face of the business.
We also dive into questions about their fast growing business. They’ve had a remarkable year growth wise and we dive into what has been working. They left SO much tangible insight and we’re excited for our listeners and their fans to get a peek at this side of their relationship.
Buckle up for one great conversation!

This is a great episode to listen to if you have your own podcast, might be thinking of starting your own podcast someday, or for those of you who do any public speaking. Over the last four years we have grown three podcasts, hosted over 300 episodes, and have been guests on over 100 shows. At this point we have taught many women how to podcast and Abby even coaches women on how to improve their podcasting skills. We are sharing our biggest takeaways when it comes to all things podcasting throughout this episode.
The most important thing to remember is to stay true to who you are. Think about what makes you unique. The biggest thing that leads to burnout when it comes to podcasting is when someone isn’t being authentically themselves. We share an exercise you can do that can help you get feedback from others on what makes you, you.
We also want to continuously improve as podcasters. We offer suggestions on what you can do to make sure this is happening. Be sure you are listening to your audience’s feedback. When Amy and Abby first started podcasting they got feedback on the pace of their natural delivery and implemented those suggestions right away.
Finally, we touch base on how it is so important to ask your audience to help you. This can be from everything to growing your show, to rating & reviewing it, to purchasing your own offers. And don’t just ask them one time. Ask them over and over and over again. Your audience can’t help you unless they know how!

You might be surprised with some of the points driven home in this episode. It’s Amy with a solo one this week and I’m focusing in on what it really means to be resilient as a business owner. I believe this is one of my strengths as an entrepreneur and I’m not going to tell you that there isn’t a time or a place for a pivot or to move away from something.
To be resilient in business means to be able to recover quickly from setbacks. Mistakes happen, we all know that. But what you do to bounce back from those failures is what is going to make you flex your resiliency muscles. In this episode, I share my personal journey from my beginning days of blogging to how those lessons directly transposed into some of the most important skills I brought with me when my sister Krystle and I started Expecting and Empowered.
If something in your business doesn’t feel right or if it truly isn’t working, don’t be afraid to make an intentional pivot. Remind yourself that what you are building today will come with you on your next adventure. We want you to tune in, listen to your heart and your schedule, and make sure that you are doing things for your mind that allow you to move forward if and when you’re ready.
