In this episode, we interview Ashley & Steven Evans. These TikTok influencers have captured the hearts and attention of over 840k followers. We discuss adoption, the dynamics of having a multi-cultured family, and how to handle the haters.

Given the realities of race and racism in the United States, as evidenced by the protests of last summer, a white couple adopting a black boy is something that some people may find unusual.

This is the situation that our amazing guests found themselves in when they started posting pictures of their family on TikTok. Some questioned their motives, while others made sure to tell them that he was not their child.

Other people went as far as questioning whether the white couple will prepare the young black man adequately to deal with the subtle or overt racism that might come his way.

Ashley and Steven Evans haven’t let this negativity affect them. In fact, for every negative comment, there are hundreds of positive ones cheering them on.

Admitting that you were wrong and sincerely apologizing is one of the hardest things you can do, but since no one's perfect and we are all going to make mistakes, it's important to learn how to apologize effectively.

Sincere apologies help maintain strong and healthy relationships both at home and in the workplace. Apologies will also help you act better in the future and take responsibility for your actions which ultimately makes you a better human being.

So many times, we come across apologies that are given half-heartedly and sound more of a defense or a justification than an apology. Many people don't know how to apologize and even tend to worsen the situation in the process.

Think of the worst-case scenario that can happen at a family party. Eddie and I were at my Sister’s graduation party, and let’s just say things got messy really bad. This is the crazy story we have for you in this episode.
