In this episode, we discuss how to overcome the doubt surrounding your goals and dreams. And how in business, it's not always clear when your idea will work, but it is clear that failure only comes after quitting.

Have you ever heard of a business idea and thought it was too wild and may not even work? My bet is that we all have since this is common in the entrepreneurship world.

We then come across the same idea after it has gone through several iterations and trials and have an aha moment. The idea has morphed into something we can now understand and see the business sense behind it.

This is the theme of today’s episode; all good ideas go through this journey of initial failure before they are refined through a lot of work to become great ideas.

To highlight this, we share numerous examples of ideas that evolved after initial failures or doubt but went on to become huge and the lessons we can learn from them.

Among the successful businesses we highlight that were built after founders had failed multiple times is Clubhouse, the live social audio app, currently valued at over $4 billion.

This week we have a fun episode for you, our listeners but still very informative. It is based on a clubhouse conversation I was listening to titled The Best Advice I Ever Got. Eddie and I have some really powerful pieces of advice we have lined up for you.

But before we get into them, have you ever thought of why it is so hard for people to take advice? The funny thing is that most of the time, when someone really needs to hear something, it's typically when they don't want to hear it.

For all you listeners of the PUSH podcast, Eddie and I want to encourage you not to be this type of person. Don't let your ego and pride come in the way of receiving something that could be a turning point in your life.

Starting a business is something that appeals to so many people but knowing where to start and what steps to take to achieve this dream holds them back.

If you are like most people, you probably have caught yourself comparing your life with other people's on social media. It is a fundamental human impulse to compare ourselves with others to gauge how we are doing in life.

The problem with it is that people don’t post their 'behind the scenes' or their 'grinding' on social media. We just see their highlight reel, which we then compare with our very own struggles. This comparison will definitely lower our self-esteem, our self-confidence and ultimately destroys us.

Eddie and I suggest to you, our friends and listeners, that we should understand where our negative comparison feelings are stemming from. Are these feelings coming from a place of envy? Are they coming from the realization that we are not working on the potential we know we have?

Once we understand this, we can then move from a position of comparison to admiration. Admiration allows you to see the highest qualities of that person so that you can possibly emulate those qualities as you pursue your own journey toward success.

We all have some type of emotional attachment to something that we might not even be aware of and how it affects us. When we create attachments in our lives, they can bring us tremendous joy and also sadness at some point.

Today's episode is about identifying when these emotional attachments become unhealthy and how we can free ourselves from them to live a happier life. The thing with emotional attachments is that we struggle with them subconsciously.

That's why we thought we would give you some signs or red flags that you're prone to emotional attachment through your pattern of thought or behavior. Once you become aware of it, you will take action to disrupt it.

With everything that happened in the last 12 months, many people are feeling overwhelmed and mentally exhausted. And having entered the second quarter of 2021, we thought we should give you some tips on how to clean up all this built-up mental mess.

These tips will be especially useful if you are feeling what I call the Four Ds – Disoriented, Disorganized, Distracted, and Directionless.

What Eddie and I are asking you to do is to self-reflect if you’re feeling any one of these four Ds by raising your level of self-awareness. This will help you assess how you are spending your time and how this might be contributing to feeling overwhelmed.

In this episode, we discuss how traditions impact progression. How have the routines and ideas you were raised with threatening your progress over time?

When you think about your own life, are there some things that you hold to that hinder your ability to progress? This is a fundamental question that we all should ask ourselves. In order to keep pace with time and experience growth, we need progression. But at the same time, we have these traditions or habits that limit us.

In today’s episode, Eddie and I look at the importance of traditions and also when we get to a point where these same traditions don’t necessarily match what’s required to thrive in the new world.

Traditions are like a double-edged sword, they bring comfort, certainty, and common ground, but these same things will hinder your growth.

We have talked about the power of delayed gratification several times in the PUSH Podcast and highlighted examples of how it works in developing your willpower and self-control to achieve your goals.

Delayed gratification starts with having a vision or a goal that you want for your life but having the patience while putting in the work to achieve those goals. Our guest today, Jessica, exhibits delayed gratification at its finest. Not only did she set monster goals for herself, but she also put real intention behind them and worked hard to achieve them.

Jessica started a business nine years ago from her home and had a dream of opening a brick-and-mortar business. She worked hard to realize her dream, and just a week before she was able to open her bakery, her grandmother, who was her biggest supporter, passed on. She nonetheless persevered and had a very successful grand opening, shattering her revenue targets and having a lot of fun while at it.
