  • Getting you a job is not the role of a professor
My role as a #Business #Professor is not to get you a job. This is a trivial problem.
A professor‘s role is to get you to think about the world differently so that you will go and understand the career that you actually want or create.
We’re here to get you to think about things in different ways. If you want a job, I suggest you just start throwing your résumé in to different restaurants and grocery stores in your local area. If you want a job that you love, I would suggest that you go get a business school #education.
We can’t guarantee that you will find a job that you’ll love, but will likely guarantee that you’ll understand the world in a much more nuanced way than you did previously.
It’s your role after that, to figure out how to apply this understanding in such a way that you can translate it into a job that you love and will cherish.
Finding a career you love is a hard thing to figure out. You’re not only need to know what you like, and most of us don’t, you need to understand what the world has to offer. The combined intersection where you understand your skills with what the world actually can offer is where you will actually discover some thing remarkable.

  • what is (real) new-product development and innovation actually about?
People believe that new product development and #innovation is about flashy things that are novel and that will blow your mind. This is flat out wrong.
Instead, new product development and innovation is a slow, #painful journey towards a little bit of improvement every day.
Nobody will pay attention to it, and you will get absolutely no #recognition until one day something clicks. Call it a tipping point or the formation of community, but it doesn’t matter. The effects are still the same.
When that day happens, usually very long into the process people start paying attention to what you’re actually doing.
Until that day, you’re a nobody, doing wasteful, and unproductive things. The psychological struggles of being an innovator or entrepreneur that is creating new products is very real.

  • We do we continue to make the same mistakes as a society?
Why do we continue to make the same mistakes as a society or with an organization? I believe that individual traits play a large role, and make it so it’s difficult for some individuals and groups to learn effectively. One would think that we would adapt to an environment, and become increasingly improved human beings, but I don’t think that’s actually the case.
Individual factors due to genetics and social upbringing play a significant role I believe.

  • I’m doing OK (and you probably are you).
I am doing OK. I believe that most people actually are too. The world of polarization that you see on digital environments is not representative of peoples regulars lives. Most of us are functioning, just fine, and moderately happy with who they are.

  • Be confident, but also be humble
With #confidence and #humility, you can tackle anything the world throws at you.
Think that you’re awesome, but act like you’re not.
It's important to believe in yourself and your abilities, but also to remain humble and open to others. You need this confidence to tackle the world when it bites back at you. The world can really push back and you have to fight against the outside world.
One of the keys to success is being able to work with others and have meaningful conversations, regardless of the situation. This requires being #open and #approachable, and not thinking of yourself as superior to others. By being humble and treating others with respect, you will be able to build strong relationships and work together towards common goals.
In order to truly thrive in life, you need to strike a balance between confidence and humility. This will allow you to take on challenges and overcome obstacles, while also remaining open and receptive to new ideas and perspectives. So remember to believe in yourself, but also be humble and respectful of others. With this combination, you will be able to accomplish great things.

  • The Semester Sprint: A Professor's Journey
As the end of the semester approaches, the demands on a #business professor at a major research university can be overwhelming.
Between teaching classes, grading exams, and conducting research, it can feel like a never-ending race to the finish line.
In this LinkedIn post, I'll take a behind-the-scenes look at my life as a professor during the end-of-semester crunch, and explore the challenges and rewards of academia.
It's important to remember to be kind to yourself. Life can be overwhelming at times, and it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But it's important to take a step back and remind yourself that it's okay to take some time for yourself. Whether it's taking a break to do something you enjoy, spending time with friends and loved ones, or simply taking a few deep breaths, taking care of yourself is essential to maintaining your mental and emotional well-being.
So don't be afraid to give yourself a little bit of extra love and care, and remember that it's okay to put yourself first sometimes.

  • We have entered a brave New World with artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence has quickly become centerstage, and it may be wise to think about the implications of where we want to take this in the future. Wherever we go, we probably should be positively optimistic, however, being careful in its implications. We may result in some unpleasant unintended consequences.
