China just announced plans to impose 34% retaliatory tariffs on all goods imported from the U.S., after President Trump raised tariffs on imports from China up to 54% and global markets were sent reeling as a result.

But as we’ve been reminded by a recently reported leaked memo to the Pentagon, the Trump Admin isn’t just pursuing an economic war with China, they’re actively preparing for a direct war...

KJ Noh, a geopolitical analyst and Co-Host of ‘The China Report’ on Breakthrough News, noted that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s recent declaration that Japan will be the next “war-fighting headquarters” for the U.S. is a reminder that Washington is working to establish a “Pan-Asian NATO” for a future war with China.

President Trump is wasting no time sending tensions with Iran soaring, as he threatens to bomb the country if Tehran doesn’t agree to a version of the JCPOA (the deal Trump withdrew the U.S. from in 2018). This, as Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth orders the Pentagon to deploy an additional aircraft carrier and more U.S. air assets to the Middle East.

Patrick Henningsen, Host of the 21st Century Wire, noted that the Trump Admin is threatening a “preemptive attack” on Iran, despite the U.S. Intelligence Community concluding that Tehran is “not building a nuclear weapon.” He also suggested that if the U.S. is serious about a deal, then they should address the biggest threat in the Middle East that is holding the region hostage: Israel, with its undeclared nuclear arsenal of an estimated 200+ warheads.

The Trump Admin is planning for war against China, according to the reported leaked memo Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth sent to the Pentagon last month. In it, he declared that the U.S. plans to pressure allies in Europe, the Middle East and East Asia to take on the responsibility for tensions with Russia, North Korea and Iran… while Washington focuses on Beijing.

This, as China’s foreign minister is in Moscow for three days of talks, where he met with top Russian officials, and declared that Russia and China are “friends forever, never enemies.”

It seems the U.S. hasn’t learned a single thing from the proxy war it’s losing against Russia… and now, the neocons think they can take on China.

Trump is acting as if he is just now figuring that he’s not going to force Russia into a “peace deal” to end the war in Ukraine overnight, and he’s lashing out at Putin for raising concerns about Zelensky’s legitimacy, given that his presidential term expired last year.

Trump is even threatening to impose tariffs on countries that purchase Russian oil if Putin doesn’t agree to a deal soon, as if that’s going to make countries around the world (including many in the EU) stop trading with Russia.

Yet it was Trump himself, just last month, who was the one calling Zelensky a “dictator without elections,” and saying the Ukrainian people needed to have a chance to make their voices heard.

The U.S. Intelligence Community has released its 2025 Annual Threat Assessment, and while it warns Russia is a major threat, it also admits Moscow “retains momentum as a grinding war of attrition plays to Russia’s military advantages,” and that this war “will lead to a gradual but steady erosion of Kiev’s position on the battlefield, regardless of any U.S. or allied attempts to impose new and greater costs on Moscow.”

International Relations and Security Analyst Mark Sleboda noted that while the Trump Admin is focused on trying to get Moscow locked into a peace deal that Kiev will never fulfill, and while Kiev is busy trying to launch an incursion into Russia’s Belgorod region (because they didn’t learn their lesson in Kursk), Russia is focused on the task at hand and planning for advances in the Donbass region, as the war continues on.

The Trump Admin was apparently planning for U.S. strikes on Yemen by exchanging messages and emojis in a group chat on the messaging app, Signal. At least that’s according to Jeffrey Goldberg, the Editor in Chief of The Atlantic and a former IDF prison guard.

But while the messages from Vice President JD Vance seemed to put the reason for the strikes on “bailing Europe out again,” the officials all appeared to ignore the main reason the U.S. would be bombing Yemen: for Israel.

The article exposing the messages and the fact that Goldberg was included in the chat was also published on the same day that Israel targeted and murdered two Palestinian journalists in Gaza.

The Trump Admin is back to playing ‘Good Cop, Bad Cop’ as it claims it wants to pursue nuclear talks with Iran one day, and then threatens war with Iran the next.

In response, Iran’s supreme leader is warning that the Trump Admin’s threats “will get them nowhere,” as Iran’s Revolutionary Guards unveil advanced missile systems on three strategic islands in the Persian Gulf that can target nearby “enemy bases, vessels, and assets.”

Prof. Seyed Mohammad Marandi, of the University of Tehran, noted that if the U.S. pursues war against Iran, it would “a war of self-destruction,” because it would not only send the U.S. into an economic depression from the impact on oil and gas supplies and prices… it would also create “a global catastrophe.”

Russian President Putin addressed the recent overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during his annual news conference, and he admitted that Israel is the “primary beneficiary” of the current instability in the country.

While Putin did condemn Israel’s expanded occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights, he appeared to tread lightly with his rhetoric on the genocide Israel is currently committing and said instead that he is “not sure what goals Israel pursues in Gaza.”

As for the future of a Russian military presence in Syria, Putin said it was a “complicated situation,” and that would have to be worked out with a future government in Damascus. But his rhetoric made it clear that Russia is not an empire and does not see Syria as a conquest.

Israel is doing a victory lap in Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, with Netanyahu taking to the top of Mount Hermon for a photo-op and bragging that Israel plans to keep the additional land it seized from Syria this month.

Israel’s main competition in Syria is Turkey, which is also expanding its dominance, with reports of Turkish troops amassing on the border and preparing for an attack on the Syrian Kurds, who are aligned with the U.S.
